We pay 7m for our own player. King Monchi!

And turns to profit on the books from the 30% we're receiving for the sale 😉

We can't lose on this.

We gain 30% of the fee if he moves to a other club

Or

We get one of the best players in the championship for 12.6 million

Monchi 👑

This is spot on.

What's the going rate for a top Championship player these days? Ollie was just shy of £30m a few years ago. Gray has gone to Spurs for nearly £40m this season.

Whichever way you shake it, this is an absolute steal. Especially with amortization.

Monchi playing 4D chess. Which might explain why the original fee was so low.

Or we paid Hull £7m to turn a £5m player into an £18m player for us

This place is officially a cult

Not really. There were provisions put in place when he (along with Archer and A Ramsey) was sold such that if he performed well it would be a good deal for us to have him back. It seems that is what is playing out.

In isolation the deal seems silly. Paying money to not own a player for a season.

But people are making the mistake of viewing it in isolation. We're going to be doing this with loads and loads of our young players.

The buyback is to protect us when one of them actually turns out to be really good. In that isolated situation we'll be down on the deal financially.

But overall, across all of those transfers, we'll be up

This 100%

It's about risk - for every one of these, whereby a loan could be seen as being better from our perspective, there will be a few Ramsey (A) deals - where we got a pile of money and the players value reduced.

He was obviously just last years PSR deal, £5m to keep our noses clean but a mechanism to ensure we could get him back if needed.
