Wezbid Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Such a really mature performance from a young player with minimal top flight experience, let alone, top European experience. He looks very calm and unfazed without being casual. Very impressive.
lexicon Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:15 That was EXACTLY what we wanted to see from him tonight. Superb!

VillaAlex Posted Wednesday at 21:16 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:16 He was immense and like a like of threads, even Rogers last year a lot of emotional posts come back to look silly. I would not be surprised if Unai brought him on v Ipswich to prepare him for this game. Excellent young player, he will continue to have off days and excellent ones too. He's in a position which generally brings inconsistency, I just hope now there aren't people jumping on his back about him not being good enough from 30 min performances on the future. VillaJay Posted Wednesday at 21:18 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:18 Really mature performance and worked so hard for the team, big show from Unai that he trusts him to start him tonight.
Mantis Posted Wednesday at 21:19 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:19 Haven't really rated him so far this season but that was an incredible performance. He must have a lot of mental strength tbh given the occasion.
VillaJ100 Posted Wednesday at 21:19 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:19 Best game for Villa be a long way, showed what he can do. You know in the 49th? Min I thought we were going to recreate the '82 winning goal.
CVByrne Posted Wednesday at 21:20 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:20 He'll have learned a lot. I really like his defensive work. I remember that from his pre season last season. Doesn't shy away from it

Popular Post Adam2003 Posted Wednesday at 21:22 Popular Post Share Posted Wednesday at 21:22 I read on the pre-match thread that playing him was the same as playing Simon Dawkins.

Reminded me a bit of how Park Ji Sung would do a job for Man Utd in their old glory days. For someone who originally came through as a flashy street footballer he has some work ethic and great defensive awareness and intelligence.
Skruff Posted Wednesday at 21:22 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:22 Combined really well with Digne on the left, they looked superb together. Very impressed by his defensive work, tracking back, one on one defending, positioning and general discipline. Wonder if he could fill in as RB/LB if ever needed? Pez1974 Posted Wednesday at 21:23 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:23 Very good. Glimpses of quality; lots of hard work And he can clearly adapt to what the manager wants - no wonder Unai wanted him back

It was mentioned here as one of many options at right back as he played as a wing back for Cardiff. Definitely elements of Ashley Young in his game too (defender version). Andy_10 Posted Wednesday at 21:34 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:34 He was decent tonight. Better on the left than the right, but overall, a very good game. Im pleased for him & hopefully it gives him confidence to push in now.
avfc1982am Posted Wednesday at 21:37 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:37 I think tonight was his coming out party. Brilliant on the left but really good on the right too. Was overall brilliant.

Stopping Alphonso Davies having any impact on the game was the most impressive thing.
