Not an upgrade on Diaby if we are selling him If he's improved as much as I think he has having watched him very closely at Hull, twinned with the borderline-miraculous effect Emery had on Rogers coming from the Championship, then prepare to be astonished at his level which could be in excess of even Diaby's by Christmas time.

He comfortably outshone Rogers there, and look what he did at the end of last season.

Think the sell on Fee was flat 30% of sale price so we end up paying 12.6m for him and we'd sold him for £5m. So he'll cost us £2.52m per season amortisation and his sale of 5m is worth £1.67 per year when averaed over the 3 year accounts for PSR and Squad cost rule. So net it's 0.85m cost per year + the difference in his wages from last season to his new contract. Seems a great deal. Well played Monchi with these clauses
brommy
If it makes sense to Unai, Monchi and those others at the club who are fully aware of the footballing and finance factors, what's not to like?

Well played Monchi with these clauses I think the base price is £18m so that's amortised as £3.6m per year for the next 5 years. The 30% sell-on of £5m or so is income so fully counts in 24/25 only. rodders0223
13m for our own player. Whilst fans get shafted out of pennies. Hail Monchi.
Villa87
Rumour Emery didn’t want to sell him in the first place makes this even more understandable. For the price this is a no brainier. Need to go big on a cm, cb, rb and if Duran goes striker.

He wanted to go and play...but we had him under contract. Monchi and Emery allowed him to go for a poor fee. To swap him for one year of Zaniolo was rank decision making, and looked it the whole way through the season. Learn and move on.

At least we should have put in proper buy back clause (let's say £10m), not "matching" clause where you depend on other teams offers. If Hull wanted him so much they would have to accept it. Not the wisest decision by Monchi et al. Edited July 12 by Czarnikjak

Both aren’t first 11 players as well. Really excited with those movements. Selling Diaby and Duran I think we’ll atleast get another forward and a CM. Herman22
JPB was probably our best player at the summer series last year. Glad to have him back and I think he will push our starters for a place in the team. Financially it’s a very good deal too!
villan95
Yep pleased he's coming back, we're looking very strong in those wide areas now.
jimmygreaves
Just watching his highlights reels from last season (Christ, he looked great) didn't realise how much he was played out on the left side. Him and Bailey on the wings could be awesome!
