It's a world class city, that is undeniable. What drives me insane is the financial advantages that little clubs like Crystal Palace and West Ham and now even Fulham to an extent get let alone that players well above their level would prefer to go there for the Laandan lifestyle. Back in the day they would follow the wages as they couldn't afford to do anything else, but they earn so much now they can play anywhere they like. If a player is more interested in his life style than his career, then I’d be inclined to think he’s probably not what we’re looking for. I know they’re all young blokes and I don’t begrudge anyone having fun but James Milner said at 17 that he wouldn’t have a drink until he retires. He didn’t want to blow this chance to have a great career and he’d still have plenty of time to go boozing once it was over.
