Ollie Watkins

Hasn’t actually scored a premier league goal since about March (someone out there will be able to be more exact) which I think is about 7 games. He does have these dry runs tho.

Why didn’t he play the Dortmund game? Ezri and Emi did. Is he carrying an injury, there were those rumours.

he's a very good striker, but he isnt an elite striker.

Not many of those exist.

In fairness he didn't even need to be " elite " to do better today.

Normal Ollie from last season buries those two chances today.

Ollie's finishing has always been massively hit and miss. Even in games where he's scored a brace he can miss one on ones horribly. That is the striker he is.

It's like every chance is a total reset, not really affected by confidence or form. Just a coin toss every time whether he will score beautifully or mess it up.

This ones on the manager.

Not fit, not sharp, shouldn’t be within a million miles of a start.

Only way to get him match fit is to play him.

I'd have to say another 6 weeks until he's back on fire.

I get you but in my mind this is bigger picture man management.

Ollie is VERY much a confidence player and he's admitted that himself.

I'm sure even getting subbed off early will already be affecting him.

He had no preseason and we know what he is capable of at his best.

As frustrating as it is I choose to take the " hit " until it's untenable imo

He has enough credit in the bank to get the time.

Ollie at his best is invaluable to us.

I'm just worried that his head has been turned. It happens far too often when playing for England!

He wouldn't have many takers after that showing. As let's face it, it's not his first performance like that. Need him in last season's form asap.

Not buying this. As bad as he was today, he should have scored two easy goals. Had he done so, everyone would be saying "thats a great striker, having a bad game but scores the goals".

They were two horror misses, that's all.

Yeah fair take.

just thought he looked undercooked and his match sharpness wasn’t there. In a game of fine margins against the best it’s the difference
