foreveryoung
Keep playing him, he'll come good. Always takes him a good few games to get up to speed.
villa4europe
It's not the misses that worry me, it's the general lack on involvement, the lack of touches, the passing and lay offs, he's completely put of sync, looks way off it
MaVilla
he's a very good striker, but he isnt an elite striker.
JAMAICAN-VILLAN
If anything other than TEMU version Ollie turns up today we draw at worst.
WallisFrizz
Hasn’t actually scored a premier league goal since about March (someone out there will be able to be more exact) which I think is about 7 games. He does have these dry runs tho. Why didn’t he play the Dortmund game? Ezri and Emi did. Is he carrying an injury, there were those rumours. In fairness he didn't even need to be " elite " to do better today. Normal Ollie from last season buries those two chances today. Lerner's Driver
We do have to play him into fitness and form, but it's annoying as ****. Typical Villa luck. Meh!
Steero113
This ones on the manager. Not fit, not sharp, shouldn’t be within a million miles of a start.
R.Bear
Ollie's finishing has always been massively hit and miss. Even in games where he's scored a brace he can miss one on ones horribly. That is the striker he is. It's like every chance is a total reset, not really affected by confidence or form. Just a coin toss every time whether he will score beautifully or mess it up. Only way to get him match fit is to play him. I'd have to say another 6 weeks until he's back on fire.

I get you but in my mind this is bigger picture man management. Ollie is VERY much a confidence player and he's admitted that himself. I'm sure even getting subbed off early will already be affecting him. He had no preseason and we know what he is capable of at his best. As frustrating as it is I choose to take the " hit " until it's untenable imo He has enough credit in the bank to get the time. Ollie at his best is invaluable to us. He wouldn't have many takers after that showing. As let's face it, it's not his first performance like that. Need him in last season's form asap. As bad as he was today, he should have scored two easy goals. Had he done so, everyone would be saying "thats a great striker, having a bad game but scores the goals". They were two horror misses, that's all.
villarule123 Posted August 24 VT Supporter Share Posted August 24 He'll be fine. He missed countless chances like those last season even when he was bang in form.

Yeah fair take. just thought he looked undercooked and his match sharpness wasn’t there. In a game of fine margins against the best it’s the difference

Popular Post Kuwabatake Sanjuro
Can we say that we still love Ollie and just wish that he gets up to speed as quick as possible? It feels harsh to be laying into him. 8
rodders0223
Does it every season doesn't he? He's really not a natural footballer, his touch and finesse will absolutely desert him, but I do love him.
