It was like fans were annoyed at other fans being positive about a player. VillaChris Posted April 3, 2020 Share Posted April 3, 2020 (edited) Balaban was massively rated at the time we signed him, had a good goalscoring record for Croatia in that 12 months which meant loads of european clubs were tracking him. I thought it was a transfer coup when we signed him and of course it went completely the other way. Eventually he got going again and had some good seasons for Club Brugge so nowadays we'd sign him for 25m. Ended with 10 goals in 35 games for Croatia aswell. Bit like Rebrov maybe Premier League was not for him and we probably had a good attack that we couldn't give him starts. It got worse when he didn't want to play in the Championship with us and moved to La Liga. People acted like we had messi in the squad. Wasn't there a call for Sherwood to be sacked in his first season because he didn't play Carles Gill?
