Carney Chukwuemeka

Anyone who is digging into his character is aiming in the wrong direction .

If he had a 'normal' agent then 99 percent certain he would have signed.

I do not think i am out of order saying that Carney believes in God and is guided by him. So if his advisor is a member of the church then by definition he will put his future in his hands  especially at such a young impressionable age.

I think your seriously lagging if you think God is going to negotiate a contract for him.

I won't criticise young developing prospects, and that is exactly what Carney is at the moment.

However I am concerned about the advice he may be getting from his agent, family and friends.

I've watched him stand out when he's playing 'age group' football and you can clearly see that he's a good prospect, but he's nowhere near the finished article. For example, Iroegbunam totally outworked him in the recent U19 tournament although CC's goals were well taken, and he sometimes looked like an 18 year old 'prospect' up against men when he played for Villa last season as a sub.

This is the conundrum that the Villa bosses have to figure out. They've invested heavily, and if they allow one ill advised 18 year old to set an example for other good prospects then the Academy system can't function as planned.

As much as I like CC I firmly believe that the way forward is for Villa to remind him that he still has a contract with AVFC for another year, and that they will fulfil their responsibility to him by coaching him and looking after his physical well being .... but there will be no game time for him during this coming season.

I think Gerrard will already have told him that uncommitted personnel cannot expect to take a place from a committed player. It will send a loud and forceful message to the rest of our young players.

How will his agent be able to promote the virtues of a still developing and unfinished prospect who has not played competitively for a whole season?

It's harsh, but AVFC's future interests have to come before those of one individual.

If he now signs a new deal a lot of people will have to tow it back and apologise

I disagree, I can appreciate Chuk as a player and have questions over him as a long term member of the squad.

This is the second time we've done this dance with Carney already, as was a few talks of Leipzig and Dortmund before he signed his pro contract.

If we sign him, great, but I won't get attached, his Agent and family will be pushing him to move relentlessly throughout his career.

Fair play to the Gerrard and the club on this. We simple can’t be held to ransom by a player and his agent. I’m sure we have made him a very good offer, it’s probably better than his 1st team performances have deserved. If I had seen him play like a 17 year old Gareth Barry did when he first broke in to the first team I would be more bothered.

Sometimes in football as much as we want there to be, there isn’t a party to really blame and I believe that is the case here. The club have offered him a contract, the player doesn’t want to commit, the club are now acting in the appropriate way that they should in this scenario. There isn’t a villain of the piece (no pun intended), for all the talk of the player having an inflated ego, that is merely speculating.

Not sure how close DB is with the situation but

Surely the tactic is for pressure put on Carney about his representation. It might be that they know this is the one chance to get a big fee as Carney will probably move representation in future when he's older and less naive

Define ludicrous

Said before Nakamba and Sanson both earn £50k a week each, chuk has every danger of overtaking both for game time in the next year so why should he earn less?

Asking for anything above like 30/40k when JJ is on 65k after proving himself a first team player in the Premier League

He's closer than the people on the forum who seem to want to slate fellow Villa fans, the Club, and Gerrard for their view on this whole fiasco, I know that much.

As I said earlier, it became quite clear that this hasn't been just about " game time " as some have been trying to have us believe, before this.

Nakamba earning 50 k a week. The whole wage structure in football defines ludicrous. VT appears socialist on the whole. The average wage for a worker in the UK is 30 k a year. An average say engineer ...  has an annual salary of around 50 k.

People complain about the cost of games, the hike in season ticket price..
Anyone think the Castore kit is value for money? (OK Villa probably on get a small cut).

Cost of watching games on the tele?

So is it ludicrous that Chuk would get paid similarly to people who have worked all their lives?

Ultimately this is not sustainable.

If Luiz signs his new deal JJ could end up our 4th highest paid midfielder, wonder what JJ thinks about Kamara earning £150k a week

I'd say £30k is the starting point increasing based on performance and appearances, 5 year deal

Again kamara is 22 and on £150k a week, chuk at 18 is looking for a contract that potentially takes him up to 23 years old...

We have various disparities in our squad as it grows, Watkins and Ings is another one

In the context of normal life of course it is

But in the context of football its not, football has long gone and its not coming back

If he goes, he goes. We've lost far better players. All he is at the moment is potential. For every Owen and Rooney, there is a Crowley or a Ravel Morrison.

Not surprising to see the usual suspects moaning at Gerrard's stance.
