Indeed. Apart from fluking a US open she has done absolutely nothing in her career. But she's good looking and British which makes her a media darling. The result of that is that people think she's far better than she actually is.

People are being overharsh on her.  She nearly gave up tennis because of physical and mental problems. Too much too soon.  She is not trusting of her body. She is on her way back. Last 16 was better than couid be expected. She was like no 160 in the world.  She's still only 21 and has plenty of time left to improve and develop in to a player competing at the biggest level.

She's a busted flush.

Won the US Open. Whether she got lucky or not it doesn't really matter, it was a hell of an achievement and well done to her.

Where I have issue is that she should have immediately used the new found money and profile to get herself the best coaches and team around her to become the best Tennis player she could possibly be. Instead she's gone through a string of coaches, flopped at pretty much every major tournament she's entered. Why is that?

It's harsh and probably unfair, but people are looking at her as a professional athlete, what she's doing and coming to the conclusion that she's just a bit of a brat. The more harsh opinions are that she should spend more time on the court and in the gym instead of out at events, modelling and shagging one of the Beckham lads.

Again, it's probably very unfair, but she's opening herself up to these kinds of opinions by the life she's leading and the complete pigs ear she's making of her career.

She probably thinks she's better than she is because of the US Open win and when she's not getting results on the court the coach is an easy fall guy. As for her lifestyle, there's a very good chance she will never be a top 20 player in women's tennis and there's far, far more Money for her in endorsements and magazine shoots. If her team have a brain they'll get her as much money as possible while she's still relevant and not broken physically. I've no doubt her lifestyle doesn't affect her at all in terms of training or coaching. She just isn't very good. People will use that as a stick to beat her with because they've fallen for the hype that she's a new young sensation in women's tennis.

To me she needs a top strength and conditioning coach. All these injuries are no coincidence. She also needs to get a bit more of a winning mentality. Praising yourself when you couldn't get past an average Lulu Son, either because of injury or skill set, is not the kind of thing you here from a winner, you should be hearing big disappointment.

You're definitely right about the expectation levels. They were ampted to 11 after the US open.

I think the criticism is mainly because everyones just disappointed she isn't going to be what everyone hoped she would be. Everyone looks to find a reason for it when as you say the simplest explaination is she wasn't ever that good and her early success was a fluke.

She probably already has one. Tennis is tough on the body and if you're not an above average sized woman then it's easy for your body to fail you. Look at Justine Henin, Hingis, Bartey etc. Lots of female tennis players end up with injury issues, even moreso than the men.

As has been said she won the US open at 18 from nowhere unlike Murray who took years to get to that level. He was 25 before winning his first. She is setting realistic expectations.  Needs to get that level of consistency. On the plus side she has beaten two top 10 players this summer for the first time in her career.

Novax gets a walk-over into the semi final, how very fortunate for him.

Wow that was a tough match on paper..disappointed not to see it. Another Alcaraz Djokovic final perhaps which  was sensational last year and nobody thought he would play wimbledon this year a few weeks after knee surgery

I hate Wimbledon center Court crowd. It's the most flip flop crowd in history.

Adolf Hitler could go to 2-0 down and suddenly get the crowd cheering him on.

So are you comparing Djokovic to Hitler. They just want a match not a walkover
