Deano & Dalian's Umbrella
I thought this sort of thing didn't happen in the internet age anymore. It's like when kids at school said the Ultimate Warrior had died and been replaced by another guy.
nick76
Yet some of our fans thought he could come back off loan to help with our striker shortage but instead he’s going to Salford City. Some of our fans think our kids are ready but I’m glad the club smash that out of the park.

He's 20 in a few short months which in footballing terms is definitely not a kid anymore I like him and hope he comes good but if not now then when? For his own sake I hope he does extremely well there, he'd want to be if he's going to make it at PL level. After 4 loan clubs in 18 months, sadly something tells me that's less than likely now. MrBlack
Good move for him. Hopefully finds himself utilised a bit more and at a level he can contribute at given his stature. They play decent football so he should fit in well.
useless
The point wasn't that people think he was ready for our first team, it was that they thought he would have been a better option than Brad Young who is currently third choice in terms of players that are specialist strikers. He or Brad Young, would likely not needed to be called upon, as we have Watkins, Duran, or Bailey that can do a job, it was a just in case scenario, in the mean time Barry could have played in our U21s.

Duran isn’t ready, Emery even said it himself. If Watkins gets injured/off form/we need a different option in-game , we don’t have a striker that can do regular minutes like Ings was….Emery said it himself. We basically have Watkins as the only option, Bailey plays a different type of role. So the point was that we’d only have Watkins and then two kids in Duran and Barry that couldn’t offer any material minutes. Not like we have anything else. Edited January 30, 2023 by Laughable Chimp

useless
He's still young, doesn't turn twenty for another six months, twenty itself is still young, Azaz was still playing U21 football and had no first team experience when he was Barry's age, Tyreik Wright was older than Barry is now when he went to Salford and is now playing for a club likely to be in the Championship next season. Players mature at different ages, look at Grealish - played fantastically in the FA Cup against Liverpool but wasn’t hitting was he was capable of until Deano arrived. Sometimes, it’s about the right loan at the right time. His goal against Liverpool shows he’s got real pedigree. There’s a good player in there. Just needs some luck. Twenty is still very young in footballing terms.
KentVillan
Age isn't something to fixate on. Some players are ready for men's football at 16, and some aren't until they're about 22/23. Main question is whether he's actually good enough... has something gone wrong there or has he just stalled? Weird one, as clearly he's a talented player.

We’ve had an issue with some clubs not utilising our loans so it’s good to see us being more proactive and recalling them whilst rearranging new loans for them. Jack only ever had 1 loan spell and it was very successful, they loved him at Notts County and he did very well at League One level. He was also significantly younger than Barry at that stage, 18 years and 3 days old when he made the move. Came back to us and was first team from that point onwards, though as you say he didn't peak until the Smith era. It's apples and oranges. Barry has clearly been struggling - we are being kind to him because he's one of us and we all desperately want to see him do well, but you can only analyse what's in front of you, and though he has potential yes doing nothing with it at the moment. That's the honest reading of it.

useless
Between his loans he's played just under twenty-five games worth of league football, scored seven and assisted 4 in that time, I think he's won one or two penalities as well, I'm sure he would have liked to have scored more, but considering he's been playing wide his goals and assists combined stats haven't been that bad. Some might say that six of those goals came at League Two level, but i'm not sure there's much difference in qualifty between league one and league two, it's more to do with playing in a struggling team versus playing in a team doing well, and worth remembering that he was just eighteen when he was at Swindon, six goals and one assist twelve games of football, easy to forget how impressive that actually was for someone his age.

Popular Post villa4europe
For those thinking he should be at a higher level at this age if he's going to make it our main striker was on loan at weston super mare at this stage of his career Sometimes the expectation isn't just misplaced its completely baseless
