Lonely are the brave was his favourite role. Personally think ace in the hole was his best performance and although its Mitchum's film, out of the past is my favourite film he appeared in, probably in the top 3 best film noir ever made and I have to watch vikings everytime it's on TV, great entertainment.
HanoiVillan
Paths of Glory, one of the two best war films ever made (the other is The Thin Red Line).
Popular Post mjmooney Posted February 6, 2020 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2020 Kirk's 2016 letter to the Huffington Post, referring to Trump's election campaign: Quote They say there is nothing new under the sun. Since I was born, our planet has travelled around it one hundred times. With each orbit, I’ve watched our country and our world evolve in ways that would have been unimaginable to my parents – and continue to amaze me with each passing year. [I've] lived through the horrors of a Great Depression and two World Wars, the second of which was started by a man who promised that he would restore his country it to its former greatness. I was 16 when that man came to power in 1933. For almost a decade before his rise he was laughed at ― not taken seriously. He was seen as a buffoon who couldn’t possibly deceive an educated, civilized population with his nationalistic, hateful rhetoric. The "experts" dismissed him as a joke. They were wrong. Until now, I believed I had finally seen everything under the sun. But this was the kind of fear-mongering I have never before witnessed from a major U.S. presidential candidate in my lifetime. I have lived a long, good life. I will not be here to see the consequences if this evil takes root in our country. But your children and mine will be. And their children. And their children’s children. All of us still yearn to remain free. It is what we stand for as a country. I have always been deeply proud to be an American. In the time I have left, I pray that will never change. In our democracy, the decision to remain free is ours to make. Indy100

Popular Post il_serpente Posted February 6, 2020 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2020 An excerpt from an article he wrote on his 97th birthday in Huffington Post: So I asked myself, what do I want for my birthday? There’s nothing I need, other than good health for my wife and my family. Suddenly it occurred to me that I knew exactly what I wanted — a better world for my grandchildren. But have you ever tried to put 97 candles on a cake? You can’t. So I put 10 candles to represent the 10 decades of my life. Here are my birthday wishes: A world where weapons, big and small, are symbols of weakness, not strength A world where religion informs values, not governments A world where the air is breathable, the water drinkable and the food is healthy and plentiful A world where poor people are the smallest percentage of the population A world where education and health care are available to everyone A world where prejudice based on race, religion and nationality is non-existent A world where smoking tobacco is considered a ridiculous practice from a bygone era A world where all diseases are curable and physical pain is no longer a part of life A world where we control technology, not the other way around A world where greed is never considered good Excuse me — I have a lot of candles to blow out.
