Possibly, but he really didn't seem bothered to be honest. Plenty of teams have fixture pile ups, even the less successful ones. It's been an issue for years and it's made worse by international breaks. We either need fewer competitions or fewer breaks

Yes and no, it's hard to see where they can move it to where Liverpool don't have a fixture already.
Popular Post a m ole
My heart goes out to the Liverpool and Man City’s of the world, winning games and having to play more of them. Imagine owning the contract to all the best young talent across the country and the world and having to actually use them in competitive games because you keep winning. 9 2
Demitri_C
The Premier League have said the game will likely to be played in January. What a joke.
screwdriver
Whats it got to do with the premier league? This is the league cup. Liverpool must respect the integrity of the competition by putting out 11 lads from skelmersdale if there's no one else. which is bs anyway. call back all their loan players like ryan kent they have about 3000 up and down the champ. etc. Villa should stick to their guns and do what it takes to play the game in December. I want to watch this game in December. Im sure we played liverpool at this stage in about 2002 when it didn't kick off till about 10pm cos the tkts messed up massive queues outside the ground. IT was freezing cold aswell. Put a team out in dec or forfeit the game.
LakotaDakota
Worst part of the whole thing is realising that "we" are paying Zeo Ball 2 grand an hour for that... Just play it a coule of days before xmas on the 23rd. Not like they are going to play their first team anyway and will be back from the super cup by then Edited October 31, 2019 by LakotaDakota
Demitri_C
Didn't they screw united over years ago when they withdrew from the fa cup? So how is this going to be fair accommodating for Liverpool?
8pints
If Liverpool do pull out, which is unlikely in my opinion, would we get a bye to the semis or would we have to play Arsenal?
Rodders
A bye I presume, or if they were going to do a lucky loser tag, I'd have thought they'd have to draw lots from all the teams who lost in the previous round
TheMelvillan
Personally i'd rather they didnt pull out and played whatever ragtag team they can pull together. Dont want to through on a bye. Want the history books to show we beat that years league champions in the cup on our way to the final!
Vive_La_Villa
Right. Beat Liverpool reserves and avoid Man City in the semi final and we may have another trip to Wembley to enjoy. I got this sneaky feeling we will win the cup. Smith has the Midas touch.

Wainy316
Was annoyed not to get Colchester or Oxford but this could actually work out being a good draw for us.
SirSteveUK
Well its not like the fixtures were secret is it ?? Why should the EFL have any need to know when the World Club Cup was being played ? and vice versa ?? Only party to blame is Liverpool FC. They f***ed up big time. Couldn't see the fixtures for the pounds signs
Rodders
Eh? What were Liverpool supposed to do? If anything the EFL should have had a contingency plan ready. Liverpool won the CL in J8ne this was a risk. They also played a bunch of teenagers. Not their fault that Arsenal...Arsenaled it..
screwdriver
Didn't scotland play a fixture when the other team never turned up? they just had to kick off and score and the game was awarded to them. I would so buy a ticket to watch Villa kick off against no opposition. The ticket stub would be a collectors item.

This still favours us over Liverpool though, since we have PL fixtures on the 1st and 12th Jan whereas they have games on the 2nd and 11th, with FA Cup 3rd round matches for both teams also taking place between the 4th and 7th. But it’s probably just Bollocks made up by Villareport anyway.
