If Jack's out, El Ghazi & Trez will have to up their game to get something out of this as I would be very surprised if we kept a clean sheet. That is the best way to get at them and something we need to exploit.......................however that leaves gaps left by our full backs and they a pretty good at exploiting those gaps themselves. Going to be an interesting game I can see goals getting scored.
Hornso
We've faced Liverpool 48 times in the Premier League and our record is 12/10/26, averaging 0.96 Points Per Game whilst scoring 0.96 Goals Per Game and conceding 1.71. As @abdulaziz1 said most of our success has come at Anfield as we have come away with points in 4 of our last 5 games there. Unfortunately our last victory in the league against them at Villa Park was 2010/11 with a Stewart Downing goal enough to take the points on the last day of the season. Prior to that I think our last win against them in the league at home was 1997/98 which capped off a run of 5 home league victories out of 6 games against them at the commencement of the Premier League.
BleedClaretAndBlue
Praying they have an off day. Need to nullify Robertson and TAA. A point here would be very valuable. But our home record is dreadful against them. Lets see what Deano has planned. UTV
Popular Post John
The current league leaders visit Villa Park on Saturday. Their supporters are already in a state of shock, because this is a rare Liverpool away game that has not been chosen for live television coverage and it is also to be played on a Saturday afternoon with a 3 o'clock kick-off! Let's give them another shock and take a point or three from the game. A win would bring us within 14 points of our visitors and it would abruptly terminate their current unbeaten record. They may have gone 27 games without defeat, but they haven't played Dean Smith's new Aston Villa yet! We won 2-1 in 1998 against Saturday's visitors, with Stan Collymore scoring both of our goals. Since then Liverpool have lost only once in 18 visits to Villa Park, with Downing scoring the only goal of the game in 2011. Overall, we have won 55 and have drawn 40 of the 182 league games, that have been played between the two clubs. Liverpool's unbeaten record has not always looked that secure away from Anfield of late. They only drew at Old Trafford in their last game and didn't look all that comfortable when winning by one-goal margins at Sheffield United, Chelsea and Southampton. Let's make this a Villa win to place alongside our tremendous home wins of 1992 (4-2), 1981 (2-0) and 1976 (5-1)! Just do it for us Villa (although, I would take a point)! 11

It's Your Round
A point would be brilliant, but I expect we’ll lose after playing really well all game and then conceding goals late on. Saying that, I feel more hopeful about this than the City game. At home, loud atmosphere, you never know.

I think you have summed it up perfectly, can see another loss but as long as it's not silly goals scored and we put in a performance I will be happy.

Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted November 1, 2019 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted November 1, 2019 Liverpool are fast, dangerous, full of energy and imagination, well organised and well drilled - it's a very good football team - we're most likely going to lose this one. They're also having a very interesting week and I think it tells us something about their mentality and where they are. The title is everything for them, the holy grail, the lack of it casts a massive shadow on their recent achievements and they are utterly desperate to get their hands on it - they know it's close, they're in a really good position and reading everything that's been written this week, it's clear that it's making them nervous - they're fixating on their fixtures, terrified of suspensions, injuries - subconsciously looking for what might go wrong - I think that's natural given where they are - they do have a lot of games, they do have a packed schedule, they do have a really good chance of winning the title, it's a lot, it's pressure, it's scaring them. It's their only weakness. Klopp and the local press have sounded this week at times on the verge of apoplexy, they're skittish in the extreme and for Liverpool, the pressure appears to have arrived early. For me, and I know this hardly makes me a football purist, I think the way to take advantage of that is to turn this game into a war. Get stuck into them, kick them where we can, get them into arguments, take advantage of their tension to get them riled up, get them into the book, get them thinking about how tomorrow might affect their season and not how to get behind our fullbacks. We'll most likely lose the game doing that - in much the same way as we'll most likely lose the game not doing that - but if Liverpool were to have five bookings and an injury, it'd put a great big wound in them, it'd do funny things to their collective confidence - the natural chip on their shoulder, the natural "it's not fair" ingrained in the club would work against them, and the animal we would see in the cup game when it eventually comes around might be an altogether different one. As it stands, they're a fantastic football team - but their incredible desire for the title, the dominant shadow of the need for that achievement that is cast over Anfield, makes them a little delicate - I think there's the potential for a little bit of an implosion - one we might benefit from later in the season - for me, I think tomorrow we should make it as ugly as we can. Get into em; F**k em up.
useless
Liverpool haven't always been convincing this season, it might not come to tomorrow but I feel they're due a bad result, and wouldn't be overly surprised if we got a draw.
8pints
I'd play Heaton Guilbert---Mings---Engels---Targett Douglas---Nakamba---McGinn Trezeguet---Wesley---El Ghazi I think from the sounds of things, Grealish may start things off on the bench, you never know, if he does, and he comes on in the second half, it could be the lift we need to negate the second half curse we seem to have found ourselves in. They're a very different side to Man City, and we're at home, so in order for us to win I think we'll have to counter act their high press by getting the ball into their final third as much as we can. I know Douglas can be complacent, but I think that's a symptom of him learning and adjusting to the pace of things. I do like the diagonal passes he played against Wolves on Wednesday, and with Targett and Guilbert running on to those rather than Taylor and Elmohamady (who to be fair, did very well on Wednesday) I expect them to be the best way to exploit Liverpool and get some success. The front three will have to be massively switched on, which includes supporting their fullbacks and the midfield because if we are going to win this, it's going to rely on us putting the ball in their net rather than a resolute defensive display (not to say that won't help too ). But, I'm hoping all three relish the challenge and put lots of pressure on Liverpool's box. I think El Ghazi will fancy a few curling shots from just outside the box and hopefully Trezeguet can put some balls in there that Wesley can get on the end of. I'm going for quite a high scoring game. I'm going to say 4-2 Villa win

Same here, but more so... I don’t think they’ve been convincing, I don’t think they are going to go unbeaten, so their run ends sometime, I see no reason why it can’t be tomorrow. Whilst it’s easy to predict a defeat, I actually wouldn’t be at all surprised if we Win, so I’m going to predict just that.
kiltorken
Just hope we give a good account of ourselves and fight till the end, any point would be a bonus. Hard to legislate for Mane, Salah, Arnold, Robertson etc. In saying that they're playing man City next week so they might slightly have their eye off the ball. we need to make VP as uncomfortable for them as possible Edited November 1, 2019 by kiltorken
