rubberman
That's a surprise - Guilbert in from nowhere. Think it's a good move to start with jota and bring on El Ghazi for (hopefully) impact. Positive.

djdabush
I wonder how much the decision to start Guilbert in this one is due to Trezeguet playing on the left and the break up of the Egyptian link up on the right.

Chindie Posted August 23, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted August 23, 2019 Jota and Guilbert linked up well in preseason. Let's see what they do when it matters... Guilbert himself has all the makings of a fan favourite from what we've seen so far.

Skruff
I'd be happy to see Elmo start. Really look forward to seeing Guilbert play tho. Hopefully we'll see a performance equal to the preseason matches.
mjmooney Posted August 23, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted August 23, 2019 When we all approve of the lineup, they often seem to underperform. Hope that's not the case tonight.

BleedClaretAndBlue
Nice to see Neville and Carragher giving us the respect we deserve. Everton have a really decent squad. There was a stat saying they have spent £20+m on 15 players since their cash injection from Moshiri. Need to show we have the minerals tonight. Time to announce ourselves back in the top flight. Home advantage and big performances from SJG, SJM, Heaton and Mingels can get us the result. overly optimistic prediction of a fantastic game we'll all have on record and watch back 5 times before MOTD airs: Aston Villa 4-2 Everton Wesley x2, McGinn, Engels Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson
TDR V2
I'd take a point with an improved performance. A win will have me running around the streets in me underpants
MaVilla
Well this line-up is one player from what I considered the first 11 before the season started. So if we do badly I think i had better give up ever commenting ever again.....
villalad21
Disappointed not to see Elmo in the team. Pressure on Guilbert to perform now.
