jacketspuds Posted Sunday at 13:25 Share Posted Sunday at 13:25 (edited) When we have to sell Dougie for PSR, despite qualifying for the Champions League, but Spurs can happily hoover up young talent like Archie Gray, it’s a shitty situation. villarule123 Posted Sunday at 13:25 VT Supporter Share Posted Sunday at 13:25 His reception when he returns at some point will be an all timer.

HeroesAndVillans Posted Sunday at 13:28 VT Supporter Share Posted Sunday at 13:28 Thanks for everything, Doug. No hard feelings from me at all. A fantastic servant for this club. Best of luck in your career mate, once a Villan always a Villan.

The finality or it and farewell video is quite depressing FFS Under normal circumstances, this should have been his chance to grow with and excel even further as part of the team he fought so hard to get to where we've gotten to. Biggest worry should have been about him keeping his place and/or taking his game even higher with new arrivals and competetion It's a bit shit. But onwards and upwards. IIRC… I felt anger when JG left (and my attitude has just been: sod him). This time, I feel sadness.
Strog Posted Sunday at 13:31 Share Posted Sunday at 13:31 Good luck to Dougie. Gave us a good 5 years and some great memories…
CosmicVillan Posted Sunday at 13:31 Share Posted Sunday at 13:31 Sad to see him go but this feels nothing like when Gresford left, I think I spent the first couple of seasons thinking he'd go back to Citeh on a buyback clause anyway so the fact he's stayed so long is a bonus. Much as I admire him and his silky skills , I don't think I ever felt it would rip the soul out of the club when he inevitably left. What I appreciate above all is the class he''s shown in the way he's handled himself whilst representing our club both on and off the pitch. A great player and a great guy. I wish him the best.

Yes, once you convert it over, Enzo and Iling-Junior cost us under £10m each.
supermon Posted Sunday at 13:33 Share Posted Sunday at 13:33 It's better he went abroad, would have hurt a tonne more if he moved to Arsenal or City.
Popular Post John Posted Sunday at 13:34 Popular Post Share Posted Sunday at 13:34 Sorry to see our Dougie leave. We will miss his penalties, his exceptional midfield displays, which contributed so much to the rise of our football club and last but not least, him. I also believe that he will miss us too, we have been very good for each other. Thanks for some great times Dougie, all the best for the future (other than, if you line up against us on any occasion in the future). Anyone fancy us making a cheeky bid for him tomorrow?
mikeyjavfc Posted Sunday at 13:34 VT Supporter Share Posted Sunday at 13:34 Bye Dougie, a top player for the club over several years. Very concerned how we replace his presence, assists and goals from midfield.

For sure, plus having to see him play against us fairly regularly would’ve been sickening. Can’t begrudge him a move to Italy, new challenge, environment, lifestyle.
Tom13 Posted Sunday at 13:35 Share Posted Sunday at 13:35 The Insta compilation hit me in the feels. He's had some great times in a Villa shirt, including the first season, I have fond memories of that and the post lockdown games.
Zatman Posted Sunday at 13:36 Share Posted Sunday at 13:36 Sad day for the club since we were told get top four and we wouldnt have to sell. Definitely sadder than when Grealish left and has been a great servant for the last 5 years and just a pity
Zatman Posted Sunday at 13:38 Share Posted Sunday at 13:38 Forget his corners and great goals. I will always remember he rattled United and its media clowns like Rio and showed we are here not just to take part 3

Leeroy Posted Sunday at 13:42 Share Posted Sunday at 13:42 Gutted. Probably the worst deal we have done in some time, we are usually brilliant at selling players at a good value, but we've been done here. He's worth a lot more than £42m. I know I keep repeating it but we really cannot go into next season with the current midfield options. There has to be one or two new players lined up to come in surely.
switters Posted Sunday at 13:43 Share Posted Sunday at 13:43 All the best Douglas! Mainstay of the team for 5 years. But for circumstances feel like it could easily have been 10+.
mikeyjavfc Posted Sunday at 13:46 VT Supporter Share Posted Sunday at 13:46 (edited) £42m…Worth £7m more than Elliot Andersen apparently Cannot understand how this has come to pass unless the other 2 players are joining for free effectively.
