birdman
Still makes me chuckle how last month some Liverpool fans were speculating they could buy him for 40m.

He throws in a meg or two, scoops the ball over players instead of laying it off, drops feints like a boxer. He seldom loses possession, recycles everything like he's just cleaning the garbage. His passing range and vision and awareness is just wonderful to watch. He's absolutely majestic on the ball. We've had some wonderful midfielders over the years and Dougie certainly falls into that category. I'm starting to struggle to think of a more well rounded CM we've had in the last few decades. It's like listening to Marvin Gaye watching DL play he's Mr Smooth.
villarule123 Posted September 25, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted September 25, 2023 I'm still scared that there's some form of release clause in his contract. He must really love it here if he signed a new contract at that time without one.

Let's hope we keep progressing and he gets in that Brazil side ASAP.

Tom13
Just watching the 'midfield masterclass' vid that our official Twitter shared. He's so good at shielding the ball now, he has a tenacity about him that's really shone since Emery came in.
WallisFrizz
Honestly, I just think he’s underrated outside Villa. He’s only seems to get linked with clubs as a fall back option. Which is fine by me.

IrishVilla10
Interesting tweet, possibly pointing towards the fact he’s not getting a sniff for brazil.

I thought he was taking the piss out of that clip of Emery screaming at the players to be calm in Poland.

Tom13
I would fear if Barca or Real came calling. He'd be their profile of player, but for now, let's enjoy his unbelievable performances and just be glad Emery came in and started using him properly! MWARLEY2
Dougie is now becoming as important a player to us as Scholes was to Manure later in his career. He is the fulcrum. He is the one that slows down play and also speeds it up. The one to first break the lines. The first to switch play from side to side. The clever little one twos to get out of trouble.
