Vive_La_Villa
Real shame he didn’t get the hat trick.. His performance deserved it. The kids got a lot of character. Edited October 5, 2019 by Vive_La_Villa
fightoffyour Posted October 5, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted October 5, 2019 (edited) Benteke scored 2 and assisted 1 in his 7th game for us in the 3-1 win against Liverpool. Another few quiet games followed but after that he pretty much didn’t stop scoring. Wes has 2 goals and 1 assist in a 5-0 win today. One can hope... Feel he is taking bit too much of the heat Totally agree. Give the lad a break and actually try getting behind him. He has shown enough to make me think he can be a success. It will be easier if we back him rather than slaying him every week.
Tomaszk
No exaggeration that he won more in the first 15 mins than he has in last three matches. All he needed was a bit more battle and he won umpteen more balls, and stopped their defence collecting it unchallenged. Was fired up today and was really really good. That's the standard now Wes, excellent. Delighted. Lack of celebration funny. Cool swine. Penalty run up horrible, please change it. Cool swine.
tinker Posted October 5, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted October 5, 2019 Norwich's CB couldn't deal with him today he worked really hard today chasing down 10/10 , well chuffed for him , he's going to have more off days but he has what it takes to make it . Dr_Pangloss
Took both his goals well. Excellent hold up play especially in the first half. The penalty wasn't as 'dreadful' as some made out, yes hardly a good one but the 'dreadfulness' of it probably amplified by the bizarre run up. Very promising display, much more like it. Yeah Smith obviously bollocked him , those words of wisdom gave him what he needed.. Shame about no hatrick but was easily one of our beat out there today. Mantis
A goal every other game so far this season - a tremendous return for a striker up front on his own and completely new to this league.

Hardly 'so inconsistent it's unbelievable' IMO, if he was consistently like this he wouldn't be at the club.
Keyblade
He really is a cool finisher. Think about all 4 of his goals. Excellent finishes, 3 of them instinctive 1 timers. His hold up play was great especially in the first half. I already knew he was going to put in a good performance judging from what Deano said in the week. He was very disappointed with his performance against Burnley and was working extra hard in training. That's what you like to hear.

If he carries on his current strike rate by the end of the season he will have reached double figures, and when you consider that once he's settled in and has developed more of an understanding with his teammates his goal ratio should improve, as should his ability to create chances for others. I like Davis but there's no way that Smith is going to drop Wesley for him at the moment. Four goals in eight Premier league games. Twenty million or whatever it was looking like a bargain now. holteend1982
Great performance, even second half when he didn't get much of the ball he still kept their centre backs occupied allowing us to attack from deep, 4 in 8 now is a good return. Farlz
Pleased for him, gutted he never got that hattrick though. Great performance. After not winning last week my comments were probably a bit harsh towards him but he's shown again today, just like Everton, that there's a really promising striker to build around. If he can find that bit of consistency then we're laughing. 4 goals in 8 Premier League games to kick off his Villa career is actually very bloody good. KenjiOgiwara
Got to give it to him. He got challenged and smashed it out of the park... or road. Still need to see this fairly regularly, but good match. Piss poor penalty mind. Kinda surprised about that after his penalty during pre season where he just nailed it into the top corner.
New_Hope
Just needs a time and patience....I think our set up will see him making massive improvements over the course of the next couple of season's.
DeepDish
Think Wesley will become a legend if we give him the time a 22 year old talented foreigner from a non britisk football culture deserves. He is already showing that he can score goals.
tomav84 Posted October 5, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted October 5, 2019 That's what I'm talking about. No petulance, worked hard, 2 goals. That's all we're asking for...more of the same please wes
MikeMcKenna Posted October 5, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted October 5, 2019 So pleased for him. 4 in 8 is a good tally in his first season in the PL. If he had scored the penalty, he would be on same as Kane, Mane, Vardy! We need to cut him some slack.
