chrisp65
Message boards do get cloudy and emphasis is lost and some of your grammar is **** shocking. So sometimes I think, wouldn’t it be easier if we were all sat around a big table in a real live meet up. Then that happens, with the guys from the train modelling message boards, or the socialist carp fishers website, or the fairly obscure reggae forum. And I just sit there, staring at my Diet Coke. Tweeting.

From the film perspective historical accuracy should come into play , but that said most films based on true events use a heck of a lot of artistic licence anyway , so it would be an easy change to make .... so dunno , for me , maybe the opposite , film yes , grave No .... The RAF have acknowledged it's not of its time , but that was the dogs name at the end of the day , maybe a sign to that effect on the grave would have been sufficient ? Have to be honest , until today, I didn't even know the dog had a grave at RAF Scampton not related as such but has Prince Charles stopped calling his Asian polo mate Sooty yet

chrisp65
A slight over reach here: She wants here street name over on the island changed because it glorifies Richard Pennant, 1st Lord Penrhyn of Bangor who owned a sugar plantation in Jamaica. No, it’s got nothing to do with Dickie Pennant from North Wales, it’s the Welsh word for peninsular, and you live by a peninsular, so they called it peninsular street. The streets around and either side are called (in Welsh) railway street, dock street, and the seashore street. She’s a lawyer apparently. But doesn’t appear to have access to google translate or any interest in the native language of the country she lives in. This, allows people to dilute and divert.
bannedfromHandV
It’s going to become silly season on some of this stuff, it’s what always happens. In order to rebalance people feel it has to over extend the other way first for a bit it seems.

Pardon my ignorance as I know sweet nothing about Uighurs and China, but they are muslims right? And they performed a bunch of terrorism related attacks on Chinese officials? I just read that on reddit mind. I'm not condoning anything, but if that above is correct, what's the difference between that and guantanamo? Straight up question. Educate me. If this was individuals that carried out terrorist attacks, that would be one thing, one debate. This is not those people. This is anyone that shows any sign or hint that they could be anything less than full on communist party Chinese. It’s the systematic eradication of a people and a culture. We should absolutely minimise our dealing with China whilst they practise ethnic cleansing. It’s a test of our morals.
LondonLax
Just now, KenjiOgiwara said: Pardon my ignorance as I know sweet nothing about Uighurs and China, but they are muslims right? The west of China borders on countries like Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan. In that part of the world the predominant religion is Islam. The Uighurs are a natural extension of that, living on the Chinese side of the border. China in general has a policy that all its people should assimilate into Han Chinese culture and customs (the predominant culture) which causes an issue for minorities who would rather keep their own cultures and traditions (Tibet is another example). Its difficult to get any clear or independent information about what goes on in west China but the accusations relate to forced assimilation for Uighers, including sterilisation. They are also said to be heavily monitored with facial recognition technology watching over the population. The accusations from the Chinese government relate to terrorist actions by some of the Uighers which is why they need to be closely monitored.

The Chinese state is using to eradicate them as a people. They are attempting to destroy their culture by legislating against any cultural practices. They are placing thousands in re-education camps (prisons) in an effort to replace their cultural thinking with that approved by the state - a Han Chinese centric Party approved thinking. They are attempting to disrupt Uighar communities in a variety of surreptitious ways including trying to break up their communities through enforced movement and shifting Han Chinese people into these areas, going to the extent of sterilisation allegedly. Basically, China wants a unified China, where all Chinese peoples are A Chinese people. A Chinese people in the image they want. And there can be no identity other than Han Chinese. And even if Uighar people have been responsible for terrorism, that's not a justification for the eradication of their people.
