Popular Post Mark Albrighton Posted October 16, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted October 16, 2022 Dreadful error for the first. Really bad. When that happens you can’t make excuses for it. I think some feel that a mistake like that happens with him every other game and I don’t think that’s true. Truth of the matter is I’m not convinced that he makes a mistake of similar awfulness every ten games even. Stuff like the forest “mistake” is lumped in with the genuine horror mistake today. I think probably he’s the most “major” error prone defender at the club. But I also think he’s still the best defender at the club (yet to decide on Carlos for obvious reasons).
DCJonah
Terrible for the first. What's unfair is that will get more scrutiny than some of the chances we missed, which cost us points just as much.
Farlz
Done his best to drop a disasterclass to get Gerrard out quicker. Love that from him.
Popular Post May-Z
Now, THAT is a mistake. As mentioned, people talk about Mings as if he does that two or three times a game. It has absolutely killed us today though. From the first whistle, we started well with intent...but going one nil down against Chelsea takes some coming back from. Especially for our mentally fragile group. People saying that it was his mistake for the second as well. Not a chance. I'm unsure it was even a foul, then Orjan Martinez waves the ball in from the free kick.
tomav84 Posted October 16, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted October 16, 2022 echo what others have said. no excusing the mistake. but it's sad that people will refer to it as 'another' mistake when the truth of the matter is that he makes very few, and gives fuel to idiots like souness, jordan and danny mills who have conveniently missed all the fantastic performances of his this season didn't like the look of the injury at the end. as i said in the match thread, sometimes people need to watch an AVFC defence minus mings to realise how good he is and there's a chance it may happen this thursday
sne
Terrible mistake. Hopefully it will be a Whelan missed penalty moment
Sulberto21
I’m his biggest defender but the first was not a mistake it was a deliberate attempt to get rid of Slippery G. Or It took an almighty bobble on to his head and the invisible man held him back. Yeah it was a clanger.
AshVilla
What a game to prove Southgate (who happened to be at the game) that he was wrong for dropping you.
sharkyvilla
Let's just say I don't think Mings and Martinez are big fans of Gerrard.
May-Z
**** Southgate. I suspect part of the reason Mings may be struggling mentally is getting dumped from the England team with very little reason.
HanoiVillan
FWIW (bearing in mind I didn't watch the game) horror mistake or not, the reality is we *always* look worse *as a defensive unit* when he isn't playing, so if he's out injured it's yet more bad news.

Reflect for a moment on what you're suggesting - that a senior and highly paid Villa player would deliberately sabotage a result and throw away 3 points when we're approaching a relegation dogfight, all with his international manager watching on too. It's ridiculous. Occam's razor - the simplest explanation is almost always the correct one.
MattVillaPortsmouth
First ones on him, but the loss - not a chance. For free kick, people would have been crying if he didn’t attempt a challenge, not even 100% was a free kick, but was a GK error it ended up in the net. Overall I didn’t think he was too bad, people make out like it’s all on him we lost - 100% it’s not. PaulC
To make a mistake like that is the last thing this team needed. And giving away that freekick for the second was poor. Hes had a good run but hes always been susceptible to mistakes. Konsa more reliable.

No one has claimed he's top 10 CB. That would mean he's likely starting for one of the top 5 teams in the league. What people have said is that he gets dug out more than others. Today, rightly so....but not after each match.
TheMightyVillans
Tried his best to get gerrard sacked but not sure he has done enough. Will probably be benched next game as punishment from gerrard.
