Villarocker
To me, it looks like he could have managed to avoid contact with the players head. He's looking at him and it appears like he puts his foot down with force instead of maybe bending his leg in order not to make contact. I guess the only person who will ever truly know is Mings. If he's done that intentionally he should be ashamed of himself. If accidental then fair enough.
Popular Post Skruff
New angel. New discussion. Looks even more innocent to me, when I look frame by frame from this angel. Off balance. Kicks off his left foot about the same time as his head sweeps over Oliveras. All momentum towards right foot. He hits him with his heel. But the toe strikes the ground next to his head. Toe indicates where his natural stride/aim goes. All weight lands on toe. Heads get caught in the way by the heel. You can see the majority of his bodyweight "lands" as his frontfoot hits the ground. If he was stomping his foot would point upwards, heel down first. Just try to stomp on the ground, look at your natural movement. If he was trying to stomp with his toes(which no one does?), his toe would aim towards his face. Not the ground. Olvieras head gets caught on the heel of a 90kg body with all its force/moment moving thru/towards the ground to land. Try to run and imagine you lose your balance and you kick off from your left foot in order to land on your right foot? Something appears, do you have time to react? And if you react how much can you actually do? It all happens in a stride where you jump to gain your balance. John
I think our man should be given the benefit of any doubt. Disappointing that Reading are playing this out in the media rather than concentrating on their relegation struggle. You have to wonder why they don't just let it lie. Who appointed them as judge and jury?

Who appointed them as judge and jury? I'm the opposite, I can't give him the benefit of the doubt having seen him do it before. Still, he has gotten away with it which is a bit of change of luck for us, I was expecting the worst as it would be typical Villa to sign a player on loan who looked really good, only to then have him banned for 10 weeks or whatever. Dr_Pangloss
Total accident, Reading need to shut the **** up about it and get the **** over it.
Stevo985 Posted February 8, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted February 8, 2019 We'd be doing exactly the same if it was our player. I imagine we'd all be adamant it was deliberate as well.
Zatman
Reading weren't so keen to show footage when Stephen Hunt nearly killed Cech

I'm not so sure about that, perhaps the thicko's among the fan base (i.e. your average lout who posts in the Facebook groups) but the more intelligent fans would see it for what it is. I've made my thoughts quite clear on this. To say it was deliberate seems to neglect a basic understanding of physics and thinking time and in fact, football in general (in terms of what it's like to play the game at any half reasonable level), it strikes me that the burden of proof weighs heavier on those making the claim that he did it on 'purpose' because the evidence just isn't there at all. 1

Andy81 Posted February 8, 2019 Visiting Supporter Share Posted February 8, 2019 Guess I'm an idiot as there's no doubt in my mind this was deliberate. Very hard to proove of course. 2

I'm another who thinks it was quite deliberate - not to the face, but to the body. From my looking he was definitely trying to "leave something on" the reading player. And I once came top in metalwork.
bannedfromHandV
People will see what they want to see in it, which is a bit disappointing with so many seemingly set on it being deliberate.

dubbs
So the ref said nothing, the fa said nothing yet reading want to continually go on about it until they get their way? Would set a terrible precedent.
