Came on at half time, look vaguely okay in a pretty defensive role as we stuck men behind the ball, went off after about half an hour and looked in pain when he got to the bench and took his boot off immediately. Hopefully nothing too serious, but he doesn't look right.
villarule123 Posted August 1 VT Supporter Share Posted August 1 So what, he went off injured again or was just planned to get 30 mins? If it's a recurrence then you have to worry for his career at this point. 1

Delphinho123
This injury is a nightmare. Have they messed up his foot with surgery?

Killeen30
Woke up to read this new. Really disappointing to hear about him going off and very worrying that its the same foot. F***ing England Under 21s...
Leeroy
If it was a choice between selling him or Luiz at a similar price (remember we got £42m for Luiz which was pittance) we may have made the wrong call. Ramsey is a great young player when fully fit and on form but seems like the new Darren Anderton with this foot injury. Dougie was always fit for us, in his 5 seasons at the club he barely missed a game. And he was a bloody good player too. I feel for Ramsey but he’s absolutely no use to us if he keeps getting injured every 5 minutes. Edited August 1 by Leeroy
The_Steve
I hope whoever stamped on his foot during that England U21 game is happy with themselves still
Killeen30
Eagerly awaiting official news from the club, but owing to recent history with this particular injury we're obviously all a little stressed about it.

It’s great that he kept himself fit but it’s not fair to knock JJ for an injury that wasn’t his fault. The foot is a terrible place for a serious injury given the amount of bones and the high stress impact area during the game. Nor do we know the extent of the injuries. It’s an obvious concern - but we all hope this latest thing is a scare is just a precaution. Again: Dougie wanted to leave for Juve with Alisha for reasons personal to them - hence why no other club came in. It helped with the PSR stuff for sure, but wasn’t as simplistic as cashing in on the wrong name.

Think with some logic, besides Ramsey wasn't even for sale. 3

Totally agree, people think its championship manager at times, who is going to unload 40-50m on a player that was out all season and broke down 3-4 times with the same issue on top of having a medical too 2

Don't think he's knocking him, just stating facts about fitness/games played, he even said he's a great player. Edited August 1 by Tom13

It’s about a 4 hour drive and 2 hour flight or so from Turin to her home city. I think if Dougie wanted to stay Alisha would have too. I wish them both well, but it was clear he wanted a move. That’s totally fine too.

Dougie was very happy at Villa, we know this because he often posted things showing he loved the club. Now I think he was open to joining Juventus, of course otherwise he would have rejected the move, but I don't think it was a Duran situation where he really wanted to go. He was a key player for us, we were about to play in the Champions League and even though the contract situation was dragging on and on he still had 2 years left so we could have sold him next summer if we'd chosen to. I dunno how much we would have got for Ramsey and maybe it wasn't enough for us to be PSR compliant, but ultimately we allowed a very important player in Luiz to go whose performances helped us get top 4 and kept a homegrown player who barely played last season and who continues to have fitness issues. I don't know if it was a Ramsey v Luiz situation and if it wasn't then I apologise for being wide of the mark, but if it later comes out that was the choice and we sacrificed Luiz I think it MAY end up being the wrong choice. That's my point, if he wasn't for sale but Luiz was then I'm not sure what the rationale was for that decision. I've no idea how much we'd have got for Ramsey but clearly teams were interested as we've seen with the links to Spurs and Newcastle in January and then again to Spurs recently.
