Popular Post Jas10
Such a sad day… Thanks for everything Dean. My favourite manager since JG. Achieved so much and delighted and lifted us fans… can leave full of pride and with head held high. Brought us back where we belong and repaired all of the damage that had been done to this club. Created such a togetherness and positive atmosphere… so many wonderful memories and gave us a team to be proud of. Always carried himself well with dignity, decency and humility. A complete breath of fresh air… Will be missed and remembered fondly. Wish you all the best Deano. 14
Big Salad
I saw it coming but really didn't want it to happen quite yet because of what Dean has done for this club. Its like Grealish in that no one is bigger than the club. So, just appreciate for what have you done for the club Dean and we move on. Hopefully, they have a good candidate in mind who can get us out of this funk. UTV Edited November 7, 2021 by Big Salad
MotoMkali
Honestly Glad he's gone. Not because I wanted him fired but because I don't want a few more bad games to ruin the good times we've had with him. Wish him all the best. But I think this was a necessary evil. useless
Smith will come into serious contention for a number of Premier League jobs if they become available, he might even end up at Norwich. There will also be a number of Championship clubs very interested.
Popular Post Jas10
This is way more sad and upsetting than losing Jack was… Dean put everything into this club and clearly cared… Things just don’t last forever, especially in this game… I just hope we can progress from here, have to get it right. Just so sad to lose that link/affinity with the club… the pride and satisfaction of having had a captain and manager who had that was a rare thing indeed. The manager will be remembered much more fondly than the player btw…
villalad21
First time he's been sacked. Let's see what he does post Villa. Managers who leaves Villa tend to turn to shit. McLeish, Sherwood, Garde, Di Matteo, O Neill. None of them done anything significant after Villa.
Popular Post macandally
Honestly, I am angry and the only positive I find from this is that Lange/Purslows heads are now on the block. They have their scapegoat, however questions remain on: Who hired/fired the coaching staff? Who is responsible for the transfer strategy? Why has the positive atmosphere disappeared from the club? If you think this is all Deano, then you are naive, something smells within the club and if you think getting rid of Deano will resolve that, I think you are wrong. We now go into the unknown manager merry go round again. The new guy better be a game changer, otherwise Lange/Purslow are next in line for the chopping block. For those on here who have been after Deans head now showing your “caring side”, you wanted this, let’s hope its worth it!
BigJim
Really sad to see him go. I think mainly he has been unlucky with the players he brought in to the club, especially this season with injuries, though in some other cases in the cold light of retrospect perhaps the selection of signings has been a little suspect. Think Wesley, Engels, Nakamba, Sanson (jury still out), even Traore. But no manager gets it right every time. I think he deserved a little more time but the situation was (is) definitely looking dangerous.
est1874
Sad but inevitable. Achieved a number of significant short-term targets during his time with us, but ultimately was failing to achieve the longer-term goals of the club and probably was never going to get there. Probably one of the more amiable bosses we've had in my time supporting Villa. Never relished the thought of this happening but it became painfully evident that it had to. Thanks for everything Dean. All the best. UTV
mykeyb
For me he is in a small group of managers, Saunders, Atkinson, Little, Gregory and Smith, all of whom I was gutted when they left. In most instances it was the right decision. Thank you Dean, top man.

Villa87
Don’t know what to say to be honest. Understandable but absolutely gutted. Just 5 weeks ago everything was looking very positive. Things have just nose dived - lots has happened behind the scenes since Jack left. Classic Villa - just when you start to dream it all goes to shit.

Sadly the first 3 of those are out of living memory for me, but what a list of managers, compared to the list of absolute words removed that managed us over the last 10-20 years

But since he coached with us, just love his attitude, everyone gets on with him, even though I can imagine he takes no shite, an you can't dispute his achievements, even the likes of Ming's would have to look up to. Wouldn't be a disappointing appointment for me. He'd be a bag of shit. I don't want anyone associated with Dean taking the job. Be like stabbing him in the back for a biscuit. No thanks. Popular Post Brentfordnylons Posted November 7, 2021 Visiting Supporter Popular Post Share Posted November 7, 2021 Very sad to see this genuine guy lose his dream job, wonder if he hadn’t had to lose so many players through injury how results would have gone.Hope he gets another job soon. Will watch with interest who comes in.
PieFacE Posted November 7, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted November 7, 2021 Just saw the news, not shocked but am saddened, Simply hasn't been good enough without Jack Grealish on the pitch. Given us plenty of awesome memories. I will always think of him fondly.
Genie
The last few weeks the team played like he lost them. Arsenal in particular, they went onto the pitch with massive chips on their shoulders from the start. Maybe trouble behind the scenes because they do look like they’re under performing. Just what we needed at the time, thank you Dean.
