Popular Post Mazrim
When Jack came back from injury and our form picked up significantly I thought it was just down to Jack. But in hindsight, that's too simplistic. It does a disservice to the likes of Mings, Hause, McGinn, El Ghazi and more, who have all delivered. So I think that while Jack is our best and most crucial player, its not a one man show. Not at all. The way I see it is that Villa are very finely balanced in our current guise and it doesnt take much to throw it out. Jack makes everybody more effective but he's not the one heading balls clear time after time or chasing down the ball like a terrier. Credit must go to the manager, and perhaps a bit of fortune in hitting the right balance at the right time. Its not all about Jack. But we can't get promoted without him this season. You could argue the same with Mings, Abraham, McGinn etc to a lesser extent. 9
DCJonah
Imagine wanting him sacked. I didn't think he could get this squad in the playoffs but his January signings and his coaching have worked wonders. I'm confident he will take us up this year or next.
Dr_Pangloss
Played some brilliant stuff in the first half, some really superb football at times.

Maybe...just maybe, training and coaching a new way of playing takes time. Edited March 30, 2019 by Vive_La_Villa
Jareth
Feels like he's been here years, obviously in reality it's months - what a manager.

I couldn’t go today.. my mate who I gave the ticket to, text me saying the football we played in the first half was reminiscent of the 90’s. A lot of credit to go to Smith and his team for changing the style and not panicking when results weren’t going well.

Whilst it wasn’t perfect and would break down at times it was great to see the players try to play that way. This has clearly been coached and instructed. Of course Jack was always the architect of it all.
Dale
Best football I've had the pleasure of seeing at VP (from us)!
Keyblade
The first half was the best football I've ever seen us play (I've only supported Villa in the 21st century).

I think it was better for the simple reason Blackburn were better. Boro and Derby were just garbage.

Considering he was our last manager for 2 years you’ll continue to get the comparisons I’m afraid. I only mow mention him in reference to how he deliberately f**ked us over and how he is now turning Sheff Wed in to a very dull team. Edit: I should say tried to f**k us over. Vive_La_Villa
Why is everyone saying Derby have an easy run. Brentford, Blackburn and Birmingham away is far from easy!
