Popular Post romavillan Posted May 30, 2019 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted May 30, 2019 1 hour ago, TrentVilla said: People seem to consistently overlook the fact we actually have 4 owners as Purslow has a stake in the club, he isn't just an employee like Fox or Faulkner which does I think make a significant difference. It remains to be seen how long Xia will be part of the picture. Putting the structure of ownership to one side though, I was very surprised by the comments from NS/WE/CP following the game on Monday, I do wonder if they got caught up in the excitement of the day. I've never seen Purslow quite so animated before. Looking at NS/WE backgrounds, I'd always assumed that their intention was to restore us in the PL, re-establish the club as a PL club and then look to cash out through a sale and take return on their investment. Given their business track record and their lack of any real statement of intent to date I think that was a reason assumption. (Not that I'd want to hear about a 5 year plan ala Randy! or the 3 team plan of Wyness) The owners are cold hard businessmen, I've always thought that was the nature of this project for them, a business opportunity. So I'm still not entirely convinced their personal wealth is all that relevant, I don't see them lavishing huge amounts of cash on us and neither do they need to wash vast amounts of cash.......... I've no issue with that, in fact I'm more than happy with a sensible and considered business approach by people with a proven track record of success and the cash to underpin it where needed. I think we as a fan base need to stop thinking we are going to do a Chelsea/Man City, we've been let down by Lerner and Xia already. The only way I can see us being let down by the current owners is if we think they are going to do a Roman with us. Personally I want a club and have wanted a club for 10+ years that had a genuine plan, that put structures in place for coaching, scouting and player development. In the same way as Southampton did a number of years ago although hopefully we would have more scale in order to try and retain players. This summer is so so crucial for us as a club, investment is needed but I don't want us to do a Fulham style trolley dash, I don't for one moment think we will. I always mistrusted Xia, I long though Lerner a fool. These guys, these guys are as sharp as they come, they might not be the owners I think so think they will be but I think they are absolutely what we need. I've little doubt their vision for ownership is in the short term rather than medium to long but they seem to understand that the true value of the club can be realised by not taking a short term approach ala Xia/Wyness. What an interesting summer lies ahead. Great post, there is no reason why a club cannot get success using the abundant Premier League money and being exceptionally well run from top to bottom. Short term success for us is not being in danger of relegation. Once we achieve that then to sustainably go for europe you need more than throwing cash at it, especially, as we should all be painfully aware, if it doesn't work. WE need to be more like Atalanta who for years have developed players and sold at a profit, reinvested, rinse and repeat. If they have a couple of bad seasons the wheels won't fall off and they won't find themselves in serie b with a huge wage bill they can't sustain. they'll sell the crown jewels and have a new crop of youngsters ready to have another go at it and be in no financial danger. We nearly went in to administration over a tax bill this time last year.
Villa_Vids
I have a great feeling the twenties under this ownership is going to be special and FUN. They are here for the long term! Enjoy the ride.

If that was the reason, Spurs would always have been above us along, with Charlton, Fulham and West Ham. Our revenues were pretty similar until fairly recently. Stadium investment is only a small part of it. Most revenue for Premier league teams comes from the TV rights. That is why the elite clubs are desperate for a European super league, as an even higher percentage of their money will come from global fans, as opposed to the local ones that turn up to watch the games every week.

I was thinking that, gate receipts don't really bring as high a percentage of overall income as they used to. We could easily expand Villa Park to 60,000 if we wanted probably at a tenth of what it cost Spurs. Obviously having the NFL pitch is a unique opportunity for them that we would never have though. But we have an adequate replacement coming through our ranks ready to fill the void, it is great business sense. Look at New Zealand rugby. They will allow top players to leave their union to go to European clubs for £££ but have about 1 or 2 players who can step up!
thabucks
Can anyone decipher the potential implications of these changes .... Quote The fanfare of Monday's play-off final win over Derby County may have died down somewhat for Aston Villa , but those at the top of the club are still working hard behind the scenes ahead of a Premier League return. An update posted to Companies House today has shown a major shake-up to the club https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-just-posted-update-16353909

I hope this isn't the case.

villan-scott Posted May 30, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted May 30, 2019 The biggest change of NSWE Stadium Ltd is that Purslow and Xia are no longer directors. Sawiris has taken full control and can do what he likes to whatever is held within the company. Edens is a minority director, but has no control due to the stake that Sawiris now holds in that particular company.
