Crippled?

We're in the Champions League and one of the biggest spenders in Europe.

Absolutely no thanks to Purslow, the man gets off scot free from nearly ruining us. We had to sell Diaby and Luiz because this idiot wanted his hero in charge who signed Coutinho, Dendoncker, Olsen, Digne and Carlos who are unsellable

Unai has saved this donkeys reputation

Dude you hate Purslow, it's weird but get over it....

Because he killed our finances hiring his incompetent hero. We had sell Luiz and your favourite player Diaby because of this idiot

Yet some label him a hero when he ruined us yet people blaming Monchi

The real villian has to be brought forward

At first I thought this was a description of @Zatmanbefore he made his bizarre out of the blue original post.

Some people have an unhealthy obsession with Purslow. His name continues to pop up in all sorts of threads for no apparent reason. I'm sure there are people sitting at home hugging themselves, sweating as they rock back and forth until they give in to temptation and suddenly throw a Purslow post into a random thread.

Perfectly sums his time up with us. Some great stuff some terrible. Hopefully the ghost of those things will be gone within the next 12 months or so.

Luiz left because he didn't want to be here anymore.

Diaby was signed after Purslow had gone and was sold as he didn't justify his expense and we were offered big money.

Purslow has been gone for over a year, let it go bud.

Did you miss the multiple interviews from the owners railing how PSR forced us inot position to sell Luiz? He clearly didn't need to be sold otherwise.

Luiz wanted out and would have gone irregardless.

Any major spending would have been signed off by the Board and Purslow wasn't even here for the last of the three year period.

How long are people going to keep on blaming him?

Yet another interview statating something else.

In this period, we do some deals. But the key deal that I think it was Douglas Luiz. A great player and very important for us, very important for the fans.

"It's not about just having to sell the players that are providing you profit," Vidagany adds. "But at the same time - and this is the most challenging thing – selling the players that Unai can consider that are not crucial for the team.

Purslow made some mistakes but we are in a much healthier position now, than when he first arrived. Did some amazing work for us, minus one terrible gamble/mistake. Comparing us pre and post Purslow, I find it weird having grudges against him,

I genuinely believe it was Gerrard and Purslows ambition to both be back at Liverpool this season. There's no other rationale for short term signings such as Dendonker, Carlos, even Digne.

They knew FFP was coming, they knew these players on high wages would have no resale. They knew this summer is when FFP would bite really hard (Grealish money off the books), coincidentally the summer Klopp leaves Liverpool and they get a new sporting director in.

It's two sides of the coin - Purslow was far better at the "fan" stuff - talking to, listening, dealing with issues that affect supporters outside of the team stuff. Now, we're frankly awful at that, but better by a distance at the flip side - the core footballing stuff and revenue stuff.

Again, people blaming Purslow for us having to sell Luiz happily ignoring any involvement he would have had in bringing him into the club for the relatively low amount in the first place AND signing a contract extension so he didn’t leave for nothing like he could have done.

It was probably someone else who did all that good stuff and Purslow was in another room, burning a pile of cash while singing “Ferry Cross the Mersey”.

I imagine in the early days he steered the new owners away from a vanity hire and towards Dean Smith instead. That was certainly a plus for his first few years as him and DS generally had a good relationship. Can still remember both grinning like Cheshire cats in that tunnel interview a day after the play off final win and then the next season I can remember Purslow coming down to the touchline and hugging DS after a big win at Burnley.

So ironic he was so convinced on Gerrard but again was at Liverpool, had that personal connection and just thought he was ready to manage a serious prem side when he wasn't.

Spending all we did in 2022 was poor though. That was a relic of the Lerner era and would've cost us hugely if we hadn't made top 4 with who we've had to sell after achieving it.
