mjmooney Posted September 24, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted September 24, 2023 Particularly commendable, given that he is also ex-Chelsea.

CosmicVillan
Fair play to him, helped us become a far more professional outfit both on and off the pitch. Can you imagine the welcome Wyness would get with the away fans ?

KentVillan
No beef with Purslow if he wants to support the team like that. He did a lot of good for Villa, made some mistakes, didn't do anything horrific* or turn on anyone. Overall, he was part of getting us back to being a side challenging for Europe. Have some doubts about his footballing judgment, but in terms of commercial strategy he was solid. * well, okay, Gerrard, but he made that mistake in good faith Edited September 24, 2023 by KentVillan

Keyblade
Wasn't he CEO or something similar at Chelsea too? Fair play to him, he seems to have really taken us into his heart and it wasn't just talk.
Zatman
So now we are changing the badge, as well as complaining about the kit. Add this to the Terrace View, the gambling sponsor, price increases and the Gerrard fiasco But its Ok he got a ticket to the away end and sang some songs. Maybe Randy Lerner could try this to win back some support

Maybe Randy Lerner could try this to win back some support Did we have this issue with the Castore shirt last season? Not sure we did. If so, not quite convinced that’s his fault. The messing around with the badge. Doesn’t really have anything to do with him. A new badge was selected through consultation with supporters and that presumably going to be the end of the matter. Chris Heck decided otherwise. Now, you may hate the Purslow era new badge, it may be shit (personally I’m “meh” about it). But the fact that that this is once again an issue is because Heck has decided it is. It’s not Purslow’s decision to revisit it. Price increases. Are you confident that prices won’t increase again next season? Reckon they’ll stay the same now that Purslow has gone? Has the introduction of the proposed money making venture in the lower grounds at the Holte made you think that? Or was that Purslow as well? Terrace View, likewise. Presumably the club will have seen the error of its ways and ammend it. Yes it was developed and proposed during his time here and he likely will have had a heavy involvement in it. When did the work actually begin on it? After Purslow left wasn’t it? I guess it was completely impossible for anyone at the club to alter or ensure that the work could be carried out that at least didn’t result in the Holte being a building site at the start of the season. That was all down to Purslow hiding the brooms in a final act of spite I guess. My view on the lower grounds, the terrace view etc…that’s all happening with Purslow or without Purslow. With Heck or without Heck. They may well be key facilitators in it, but to lay it at their feet is incorrect imo. And fwiw, while I think the owners want this, to an extent I think they’re just “playing the game” too. It’s the way football at this level is going. We could have different owners and I believe we would have something very similar. I don’t much like the gambling sponsorships. Although people want the club to make more money (and ideally not from the supporters), so I’d be interested in the proportion of people who’d want a more ethical sponsor that gave the club less money. Yeah, Gerrard. Shite appointment. It happens. Smith. Good appointment. That can happen too. 6

When it's all roses and things going well, the life-long Liverpool fan with the 5 year plan was the centre of praise. When the shit happened and things turned to crap, it was everyone else's fault from - NasWes down to the man selling the programmes. Popular Post sidcow Posted September 28, 2023 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted September 28, 2023 Fact is we'll sign a sponsorship deal with whoever offers the most money be that Microsoft or a gambling firm. We'll sign up to whichever kit supplier offers us the most money be that Castore or Adidas. We'll open up as many hospitality areas as we can cram into the stadium and we'll increase ticket prices to the absolute maximum we think the fans will pay. And we'll do all this if we we're being run by Heck or by Purslow. 6
