Followed by consolidation, establishing team half way up the table. He may have had Jack, as did Bruce. He also extracted his best form from him. Easy to forget how his career was going until the second season down there, with the wrong coach, he could've been a busted flush. Purslow, like him or not saw progressive growth of the club, on and off the pitch. Kudos to him (bar Gerrard)! It's not quite constructive dismissal but is similar. His role and duties have been marginalised, making his position difficult to continue in. A lesser role was offered, which wasn't as central to the club as the CEO one was. I don't think many people would be happy in that situation. No one wants to go from being the big dick to one of the tiny bollocks! Edited June 12, 2023 by Made In Aston

Popular Post The Fun Factory
You kind of forget just what a shit show AVFC was when NWSE took over. Purslow immediately put me at ease as it showed that they meant business. Clear, direct, and focused. No waffling nonsense like the villa engine or being romantically nourished. Purslow has been head and shoulders of anyone seen Stride retired. Big boots to fill.

Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted June 12, 2023 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted June 12, 2023 Interesting. I thought he'd looked noticeably older recently, somehow less vital - perhaps he'd decided it was time - perhaps that was decided for him, we can't know. It would seem that all parties leave on happy terms which is good to see. I'd have to say that at the last fans meeting he was talking keenly about the club's future and didn't show any signs that he felt he wouldn't be a part of it. I think he did a pretty good job, the club has certainly undergone a lot of very positive change under his stewardship, or maybe he's just been very lucky under great owners, or maybe a bit of both. It's sometimes hard to tell with Christian Purslow how much of a thing he's been responsible for, he's not shy to tell you of his successes and can sometimes abandon a failure in a hurry. Still, even if your assume all credit for our progress belongs to the owners, you'd also have to acknowledge that they're no fools, they brought him in and kept him around for five years so his contribution must have been at the very least worthwhile to them. On the occasions where I've met him, he's been a gentleman, good company and open to question even at times when he most definitely had other priorities. I'd particularly thank him for taking the time to meet the fans group just a few days after his father had passed away. I think his influence at Premier League meetings will be missed, his keenness to fight the good fight on behalf of the 'other fourteen' and I think he provided us with stability and nous and some sensible housekeeping during his watch, we're better structured and better run than when he arrived and he's a CEO who leaves the club better than he finds it. I'm struggling to think of any other CEO I can say that of over the last forty years. For me, he leaves with some credit and the best of luck in whatever he does next.

AvfcRigo82
Now that the man with the 5 year plan is out the way, we will really kick on to the next level as a club without this opportunist charlatan and his soundbites and U-turns delaying us. I love our ruthless owners! Don't let the door hit you on the way out Christian!
