But it's Villa, a team I've supported since I was seven years old in the 70's, I feel a bit of history is about to be made. Go Villa! 23

Selling your ground I hear?...us too....Its bloody ridiculous isn't it...Both me favourite grounds up for auction! Any road up...Give 'em hell on Monday and hopefully see you seen Edited May 23, 2019 by ASOWL 8

I honestly can't see you losing, if you turn up... I wsn't impressed with Derby at Leeds as much as everyone else seemed to be..Leeds bottled it. all the froth about Elland Rd being intimidating?..who did it frighten? Leeds We've all had it..Players who haven't got the nerve playing in front of fans with expectations...Its buggered us up for going on 2 decades..Its all relative Its Why Villa, Wednesday, leeds Man city ....struggle to get it back..You get large crowds home and away expecting the players to step up to how big the club is... Not "how big " the fans deem it to be...Villa Wednesday , leeds are big clubs...You need players who don't give a flyer. I have honestly seen players at Hillsborough who don't want the ball...you can see it...It can be a bearpit when things are going t*ts up..I should imagine Villa park is the same, probably worse..European cups and such.... Elland Rd was like that the other night...a couple of misplaced passes a Derby goal and you could hear the discontent..its natural for a fan... Its bloody horrible losing in the play off final... 40'000 owls fans down there the other year...17'000 from Hull...the sheer expectation hamstrung us...We didn't turn up...should have kept bloody quiet and not bought the tickets!

Whatever happens in terms of the result on Monday I'm confident I'll come away thinking we had a go.

So in some ways it's a win-win compared to last year.

Sorry..seems i'm still not allowed to plus posts...But i agree mate We have had it for long periods with Bannan, forget what game it was this year..night match at Hillsborough, where Bannan bust a gut to keep the ball in on the by line, to carry on an attack..he ran 40 yds, slid on his ar*e to slide it to another player...flew into the hoardings, said player...passed it straight back to him while he was sat in the North stand in the disabled section FFS!...sheer lack of taking responsibility... Ive got 20 years of these bloody ridiculous stories Leon Clarke...some years ago , night match in February....He trotted out in gloves and a bloody snood...first thing he did was try an overhead kick, volley it into his own face... then span around 3 times looking for the ball!! I collapsed laughing on The Eastbank, Bloke next to me said "why are you laughing?" I said.."Why in the name of f.ook aren't you!?" its heart rending, its bl;eak..its sheer black humour that keeps you going....I'm sodding 60 now...The odd glimpse of sunshine, then years of unmitigated garbage... i treat it like a circus now...i take it all in the moment....But I can't stop going.... If it was a movie..and I knew it was crap, I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it...I wouldn't bloody go... But come saturday, blue and white scarf on..wander down penistone Rd...and there I sit again... screamin "its happening again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" bloody football....Hate it! 9 1

That isn’t going to change with Bruce in charge mate. At least with Smith you know they are practising a passing game day in day out and he wants players that are comfortable with the ball. Less chance of them fearing it.

Mate..he can't be worse than the last one we had...Honest... Villas expectations of Bruce are fair enough...You had recently come down, and like I was ..2 sodding decades ago...expected to be back as soon as possible... I mean Wednesday are a big club...Villa have won a bloody European cup..How much bigger do you get? but its different now Its not the 70's, when I first went to Villa park in the old third division, and ive been every opportunity since, simply cos your ground reeks football, same as Hillsborough, I knew Villa would be back...Too big not too...Financed by attendances, history etc...Wednesday the same...a simple matter of time. Its different now...and I don't want to name clubs, cos it sounds disrespectful, jealous and trite...but give me a break...I wouldn't cross the road to watch some of the teams in the Prem..Theres no history attached to it, One Shiek of a lambs tail or wallet and theres clubs climbing the leagues..Parachute payments that simply reward abject failure...A club comes down to The Championship with £100 million...While we consider selling the bloody ground to offset FFP? You got 40'000 at Hillsborough against bloody Wycombe wanderers as we left the 3rd division last time, We got sod all in parachute payments as we tumbled down outta the prem 20 years ago..It counts for nowt. I'm a dinosaur...I know i am... But I love it when clubs like yours come to Hillsborough...You look over the pitch at the scarves an' flags and hear the chants.... Then f.ookin' Burton albion tip up i'm depressing meself now...So i'll f.ook off Good luck lads....Sorry to see you go 12

Change the player names and you could easily be talking about Villa from the last decade or so. Thankfully in Smith we seem to have found a goodun. We may not beat Derby but I'm now confident moving forward. Wednesday are a big club and with the history and fanbase I'm sure things will come good though it's probably taken much longer than you would have liked/expected. This league is mental, Leeds finished bottom half last season and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory this year. Cardiff came from a relegation battle and got automatic promotion, i could go on. Things can change very quickly. As a Villa fan i can't fill you with to much optimism regarding Bruce, but sometimes certain people just fit certain situations so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that you could have a great season next year. I'm old school so I'd love to see you in the PL.
