It's a bit strange isn't it. They didn't add this mourning band when the people they're there to serve got bombed all over Gaza, yet when their political enabler terrorist war criminal got killed, they're all mourning. The UNRWA needs to be dismantled. If you needed any more proof that UNRWA is totally rotten: UNRWA teacher’s passport was found on Sinwar; its holder is reported to be in Egypt Quote A passport found on Yahya Sinwar belongs to an UNRWA teacher who has been in Egypt for the past few months, the Kan broadcaster’s Palestinian affairs reporter tweets. The passport is in the name of Rafah native Hani Zourob. Could obviously be made up, but they've got it on film as they take it out of his pockets. Jareth
Black stripe on a twitter logo after 40,000 civilians murdered? The only proportional and reasonable reaction to this is to starve 1 million people in North Gaza.

Do you not find that a tad hypocritical for an organisation meant to serve Palestinians, not Sinwar and Hamas? Folks getting their knickers in a twist about the admin who has access to the social media logos. You might ask why would anyone working for Unrwa would dance to Israel's tune. It's a tinderbox isn't it? Just waiting for one spark to give reason for demolishing a vital organisation. Israel needs Unrwa to prevent a polio epidemic on its doorstep, for obvious reasons and also given it has a considerable number of folks itself who won't take a polio vaccine. But one black stipe on a twitter logo means it's time to deff it off? Reactionary.

UN completes investigation on UNRWA staff Quote Investigators made findings in relation to 19 UNRWA staff alleged to have been involved in the attacks, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq told journalists in New York. “In one case, no evidence was obtained by OIOS to support the allegations of the staff member’s involvement, while in nine other cases, the evidence obtained by OIOS was insufficient to support the staff members’ involvement,” he said. This is the UN having to investigate its own agency. The UN can deal with the polio and do exactly what UNRWA is doing, just without the insane involvement with Hamas. UNRWA is completely self-serving at this point and have proven to have failed their mandate so badly that they don't really deserve to exist as its own entity. Israel has cried wolf on Unrwa already, it got the reaction it wanted, then every civil country decided it was an organisation that was entirely necessary and resumed funding, some didn't fall for the BS in the first place. The problem with crying wolf is that folks aren't going to listen in the future.

The problem with crying wolf is that folks aren't going to listen in the future. The issues with UNRWA have been there for years before Israel cried 'wolf' after Oct 7th. I find it mildly infuriating that you call asking for UNRWA not to have Oct 7th attending Hamas members in it as 'BS' tbh. The reaction is in my opinion totally deserved, if we can't demand standards of the agency that receives most UN-aid per capita out of all their projects then I don't know where we can. Just because Israel is also saying that UNRWA has problems doesn't also mean that it automatically gives UNRWA free license to keep right on with teachers unions who preach fundamentalism, using Hamas to hand out food and teaching kids about how to become a martyr. You keep saying you're neutral but everything you're writing suggests otherwise. Edited 1 hour ago by magnkarl

I'm under no obligation to present both sides to the story in every comment on the situation - why is equivalence demanded in what has been a one sided annihilation since October last year? Does that in itself not explain why Israel is getting flak?
