BOF Posted June 20, 2005 Moderator Share Posted June 20, 2005 Bellamy has never scored more than 7 top flight league goals in a season. Now I do not question his ability and what he would do for our 1st team when on-song, but to "see him finishing over Angel and Vassell everyday" is a stretch and a half. Hanky
Bellamy. We are in desperate need of a striker.
TRL
Distin. Simply because JPA will have a wicked season... my guess 21 league goals..
bigwheels
Bellamy - if Laursen, Ridgewell and Mellberg play more than a season between them, we'll need the cutting edge more
angel2005
They aren't the team now, that they were at the start of last year, just look at their results post-Graveson (that fourth spot was there for the taking - its just no-one took it), nowhere near their early season form and even though they are in the CL Qualifying, they seem to have replaced Graveson with an injury prone Spurs reserve, have the majority of their defence stalling on new contracts because the offer is lower than they are currently on and if they sign Distin, the others will be mightily p***ed off. Bellamy would end up as the highest paid player at Everton by a factor of about 3 - It just doesn't add up that they can afford either of them To say that they didn't deserve the 4th place is rather unfair. Based on points, they achieved 1 point more than liverpool the year before. Can you say Liverpool didn't deserve the 4th place. Simon Davies is a right winger, not a centre-midfielder. so he's not intended to replace gravesen. The person to replace gravesen was Arteta. I don't think Everton are skint anymore. They've spent 10 million on two players (Beattie and Davies) and both are on 40k per week. Signing Koldrup means the end of thier interest in Distin, which leaves us. But the reported fee of 8 million is staggering stuff. They might not sign either, as is reported everton are interested in Robbie Keane.
angel2005
"note:- he's got to have a medical yet and this is Everton's doctors we're talking about here, he could be in Norway and the doctors in the carribean on holiday and he'd fail it" If our doctors found a knee probelm with a potential signing, would you give a go-ahead???? I think Forsell will have an injury-prone season next season.
VillaDave
Simply because JPA will have a wicked season... my guess 21 league goals.. Hope you're right but I'll be amazed if it happens. I think I'm right in saying he would be the first since Peter Withe in 1981 to do that! Bellamy. Although we badly need another centre half (Laursen too injury prone, Mellberg suffered a loss of form, Ridgewell not ready, Samuel and Delaney are defintely not centre-halves). We DESPERATELY need a quality forward.

bickster Posted June 21, 2005 Moderator Share Posted June 21, 2005 To say that they didn't deserve the 4th place is rather unfair. Based on points, they achieved 1 point more than liverpool the year before. Can you say Liverpool didn't deserve the 4th place. Thats not exactly what I said, I said they were there for the taking its just no-one took them, didn't say they didn't deserve 4th spot at all. I said they were there for the taking its just everyone else fell apart at the seams too Simon Davies is a right winger, not a centre-midfielder. so he's not intended to replace gravesen. The person to replace gravesen was Arteta. remind me again, who currently "owns" this Arteta you speak of? Ah he's still a Sociedad player is he not. I agree Davies isn't Gravesons direct replacement, they haven't done that yet (and probasbly won't) but he's the only player they've bought to date who plays in midfield I don't think Everton are skint anymore. They've spent 10 million on two players (Beattie and Davies) and both are on 40k per week. I really doubt either are on £40k plus a week, seriously and if you think Everton aren't skint any more then please give me reasons why, have they made £40mil profit in the last 18 months? they'd be an absolute footballing phenomenon if they had Signing Koldrup means the end of thier interest in Distin, which leaves us. But the reported fee of 8 million is staggering stuff. They haven't signed him yet, just wait till the medical throws up a terminal big toe
angel2005
no, they got 30 million from sellin' rooney. well, they've spent 10 million in 6 months. they rob it from the bank did they?? I don't have any evidence to prove it, but as far i remember both of them are on 40k per wekk, especially beattie. I'm not going to argue over another team's issue, but i expect Arteta, Koldrup, Bellamy/Keane to be signed by everton in the comming weeks. Now, that's a team with ambition, while we getting crumbs others don't want. sad sad world.....
SteelCityVillain
I voted Belamy because we need a striker like him desperately. I'm not holding my breath though. Belamy will go somewhere but can Smithers Stride convince him that Villa Park is the place for him with no Euro games on offer?
bickster Posted June 21, 2005 Moderator Share Posted June 21, 2005 no, they got 30 million from sellin' rooney Strange that as the fee was more in the region of £20mil (plus future payments triggered by achievements whilst at Manure) and the second installment isn't actually due until this summer. They've bought BT out of last years plus paid off a small portion of their £40mil debt They have burbled on about "New Investment" for three seasons now, its never showed up, they are still as skint as a very skint thing
