maqroll
I usually enjoy it when Wolves lose, but that was robbery
Davkaus
Making decisions on millimeter offsides based on images so poor you can see how pixelated they are when the var zooms in, it's absolutely absurd. The offside decisions are not a matter of fact in any sense.

Especially since they don't pay the same detail to the exact millisecond the ball left the foot from the passer of the ball. 2
PaulC
Drs took a few years to perfect. It will be the same with var
fightoffyour Posted December 29, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted December 29, 2019 4 similar incidents and all 4 absolutely wrong decisions in one game week (2 days). So shocking, that’s it’s no longer shocking. The offside rule was not invented to prevent perfectly good goals and neither should VAR be.
Genie
I’d say VAR should be dropped for offsides, and use it for everything else. It would be a big step forward I think.

Yup. They can't unless they're recording it in a much higher resolution and FPS than they are. They're trying to sell that these offside decisions are a matter of fact. they're not. These borderline decisions are completely arbitrary.
LondonLax
Even if it was correct by a matter of millimetres, what price are we paying for the correct result? Accuracy is not worth it if it comes at the expense of entertainment (i.e. the whole reason we watch sport) and it’s not like it’s eliminated controversial referees decisions. It seems clear the negatives out way the positives.
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted December 29, 2019 Author VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 I'm still pro VAR as a concept. Other countries and FAs have managed it. But the current implementation in the premier league is an absolute farce. They've tried to be clever and they've totally **** it up. In it's current implementation, it should be scrapped

Keyblade
They really need to stop with this millimeter offside calls. Just reduce it to the eye test or better yet, have the linesman himself check it again real quick. As it stands it's just ridiculous.

Draw a line on the pitch if it helps, but just one line so you can see a line running perpendicular across the pitch. If it's not clear enough from looking at it with the naked eye then go with the on field decision. Or assume it's on and give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker Currently it's **** nonsense

The fact it's done in PS1 resolution with an N64 esque blur only makes it stupider.
Genie
It’s mainly offsides that are pissing people off, put the control of them back to the on-pitch officials, sorted.

villa4europe
Just seen the man City goal, great assist from the ref If the ref doesn't realise what he's done or VAR can't overturn it then what's the point

I can't be 100% but I'm pretty sure the ref counts as an "outside agent". Basically if the ball hits him there's nothing he can do, it's play on. Basically he's the same as the beachball that time Darrent Bent scored off it. It sucks but nothing they can do
