TrentVilla Posted November 22, 2007 Moderator Share Posted November 22, 2007 Even if McClown hasn't got the honour to walk it seems inevitable with an FA board meeting this morning that he will soon leave his post. So who is next? None of us want to see MON go (well some might actually) but try and forget Villa for a moment and answer this one. Who do you think is the right man for the job? Jose has my vote. chrissmith921
England could do far, far worse than appointing Capello. He wants the job, hes a huge name, and would get them working hard. But my feelings are its an impossible job, as I've pointed out in other posts.
Demitri_C
mourinho for me wouldbe the perfect choice. if i was barwick i would say what ever it costs get mourinho

Sureshot
As pointed out in another post, Capello would be the obvious option. 4 reasons: 1/ No club at the moment 2/ Said a year & a half ago that it would be 'a dream' to manage England 3/ Has great coaching ability 4/ Would kick some serious overpaid, underachieving players' arses. kingphil
I also think the so called `Special One` would be the right man - But would he be able to work with the FA ?
shambles
The special one. He may be rude, rash, abrupt, offensive, arrogant, ignorant, as well as not playing a style of football that is to everyone taste, but by god the man knows how to win games and trophies. villa89
I honestly think MON would be the best man for the job given the current state of the england team but I am biased (I dont want MON to leave us) so I voted for moaninho.
TSUPERSTAR
I'd be surprised by Mourinho - he's said how much he hates the English media, so we can pretty much thank them for blowing him considering it. It's going to be Martin O'Neill, he's the favourite with the bookies, so there's probably something behind that - and I don't fully believe he went to meet Randy just for "Villa talks"
Digsby
I'd be surprised by Mourinho - he's said how much he hates the English media, so we can pretty much thank them for blowing him considering it. It's going to be Martin O'Neill, he's the favourite with the bookies, so there's probably something behind that - and I don't fully believe he went to meet Randy just for "Villa talks" When MON left Chelsea he did an impromptu interview with the media/press and he was relaxed and stated time and time again how much he enjoyed the English press and the games they played on each other. He would be perfect.
tricella
I voted MON because I cant see FA go for a manager abroad. Fabio Capello is a very good manager and he would be a perfect choice...Marcello Lippi too...and Jose Mourinho.
Sit_Down_Potato_Head
It has to be Capello or Mourinho. Barwick nearly creamed himself over wooing Scolari last year, and to have Capello and Mourinho out of a job at the moment is an absolute gift. Out of the British crop, only MON has the credentials, but he's staying put.
R.I.C.O.
I want Mourinho, but they WILL get MON, I knew it as soon as the final whistle went.
villab0y
I want Mourinho but I think we'll end upp with Pearce. MON aint going nowhere.
mjmooney Posted November 22, 2007 VT Supporter Share Posted November 22, 2007 I'm going to be a stick-in-the-mud here, and declare that England should be managed by an Englishman - which rules out all the above except Allardyce (and I wouldn't want him in). So, I don't know. At the moment, I don't particularly care, to be honest.
itdoesntmatterwhatthissay
There are only really 5 managers who fill the criteria on that list due to time restrictions. Terry Venables - rubbish, not gonna happen Lippi or Capello - possibly Big Sam - could be tempted to get out of his Newcastle insecurity. Hilarious Harry - could be good, could be bad.....unsure I think most other managers on this list are too tied up, with the FA unwilling to let a manager share club and country. If England fans want to win something Fergie is the only man to do it.
