Very true - he was up against and was a solid part of an excellent back 4 today.

He's clever enough to realise what he can't do and will not try anything stupid. He will never be out of this world but he'll never get taken to the cleaners as long as he's not left totally exposed one on one. Solid performer.
Dave-R
Elmo did a grand job today, didn't really do anything wrong, he did turn his back sometimes, Leeds players nearly got the better of him but he turned quick to make up for it and put the pressure back on. Phil Silvers
Smart old pro, you will get as good as his best every game he gets a chance. But hope da main Cashman hurries it up a little though. Edited February 27, 2021 by Phil Silvers
villalad21
Thought he was supposed to get annihilated today? Still such an underrated player. Yeah Cash out is a big blow but Elmo is absolutely fine as a backup
Mark_1989
Second half thought he was better. Did his job well but first 30 his positioning was shocking. Cash back soon hopefully
Villan_of_oz Posted February 27, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted February 27, 2021 Solid performance from the veteran, still has the wile and nous even if he doesn't have the pace anymore. Has been a great servant to club, massive respect.
maqroll
Looked shaky but grew into the match. Solid enough. Should have an easier time of it vs SUFC
villalad21
James Milner is still going strong at 35 Elmo looks as fit as anyone to me. Obviously the coaches has seen it as well.

For me, he was brilliant. Before today's game it was being suggested he be replaced by a youngster who would be making his senior debut in the Premier League. Elmo was brilliant and never put a foot wrong. Ultimate professional and it's no surprise why Smith and Co would want to keep him at the club. bobzy
Against Leeds at Villa Park, all of the problems came down our right. Literally none of that tonight - well played Elmo.
blunther
He's the sort of player you need, an experienced player who doesn't moan and can come in and be solid. Quite a versatile player too. I wouldn't mind offering him another year but I think there'll be a club out there that offers him a longer deal.
Spoony
Mr Reliable. I hope he stays at Villa. He just always does the job required of him. edit: by stay at villa, I kinda mean in a coaching capacity when he can no longer be relied on as a back up. I think he’s probably got one season left in him but I’d like him to hang around. Strikes me as a model pro and I swear he’s been playing since the end of WWII.
