People have been posting reviews in Ukrainian at cafe ‘Ray Mak’ in Sudzha the last few days. There’s a Google maps link below:

There are other reviews in some of the other businesses in that town too.

The Taxi Company and the Mobile Phone shop are also a little amusing

Yeah, there's some top notch trolling going on there. 😂

How far from Moscow are they???

A big ass distance away.  From Sudzha to Moscow is about 643 km by fastest route according to Google Maps.  It also has toll roads...

If they head to Moscow and stop to pay the tolls on the way that'd be just brilliant

I just finished "Nuclear War a scenario" by Annie Jacobson. And I recommend it. Scary, chilling, and a reminder as to why we do not want a nuclear war.

It feels like those Ukrainian army personnel have been sent to Russia with the intention of them not coming back though… they are going to be faced with an absolute onslaught, right?

Possibly, but it won't be much different to the East, and Russia might not use glide bombs and total destruction to the same extent on their own territory.

Ukraine is now actually pulling reserves from the frontline in Donbas to send them to Kursk. I really hope the Kursk operation ends up being a big success where they’re able to hold what they’ve taken (and hopefully take more) otherwise this could backfire spectacularly.

Russia doesn't have enough proper weapons or personnel to onslaught with. Ukraine can track re-enforcements moving into the area and hit them with drones/missiles before they even get on the battle field.

Russia has lost this war on a strategic level and it might never recover.

Murmansk was once a safe naval base.  It's now on the NATO border.  It can only be supplied by a single road and single railway that run for hundreds of miles along the border with Finland.  It runs through forests, mountains and lakes.  It's now pointless.

St Petersburg now houses a fleet that is in artillery range of NATO.  To get ships out they need to navigate the a sea that is surrounded by NATO on all sides and has only 1 narrow entry with NATO on each side.

Sevastopol is no longer a safe naval base and Russia has already withdrawn its ships.  The Black Sea fleet is inoperable and the Black Seavis completely controlled by NATO.

Kalingrad is completed undefended and would fall to NATO forces in hours.

The 1st Guards were an elite unit with the best men and tanks.  They were specially deployed to defend Moscow from a NATO attack.  They are gone.

Why?

What will that allow him to do?

Full mobilisation, probably unlocks other funds (if they have any) and maybe get more support from the Russian people as Ukraine have started attacking them in Russia.

Might also unlock more support from China and North Korea if they are “under attack”.

A gamble for sure, but it puts pressure on Russia. Defending for years in the Donbas doesn't seem to.

Looking at Ukrainian aviation working over Kursk and how no one knew about this does indicate that they've chosen a good spot, and compared to last year's failed offensive Russia couldn't just entrench for this one.

I hope it goes well, it might not.
