Could that stabilise the situation? Is that out of the question? Putin has already come on state TV (unscheduled, which tells you the severity of the situation) calling it treason. The chef will either die in battle or will see himself addressing the Russian nation. Putin has already fled towards St Petersburg (apparently) and Lukashenko (his best friend) has reportedly fled to Turkey.

I do get the impression that Progozhin is old school Russia, and is genuinely patriotic rather than a chancer trying to make hey while the sun shines. No idea what his stance on Ukraine will be in the coming weeks/months, but I think he’s being sincere when he says he wants to change the powers that be at the top of Russia Prighozin biggest weapon is being a commoner. A man of the people and not of the Kremlin. If all those opposing or silently opposing Putin decide to come out of the woodwork, Putin will be in big trouble. Lets not forget only a couple of years ago a few hundred thousand were on the streets protesting against him.

Depends how desperate he feels. He's shown nothing but contempt for the Russian people for decades, so I doubt he'd be too worried about using that kind of firepower on specific areas on Russian soil. I think he'd sooner use them domestically than anywhere else for fear of the repercussions. Tactical nukes, are we back to this again, there no such thing really, they still kill people for hundreds of miles radius just not as quickly as a big one. And that could still be considered an attack on NATO even if it wasn’t aimed at Ukraine

Russia does not need a navy at this point. But redeploying the navy inland has a strong histotical significance in Russia. It was sailors refusing to crush a popular revolt that powered the Russian revolution. (Battleship Potemkin. Fascinating story. Marvelous movie) A silent movie that was well ahead of its time. Some of the special effects were groundbreaking. A pram falling down steps in slow motion and hanged sailors materialising on the yard arms were the first time these things were seen on film. Popular Post Mandy Lifeboats
Its time to put the tactical nukes fears to rest again. 1. They don't exist. Tactical nukes describe a small nuke used in a tactical way rather than a strategic way. They still spread radiation and fallout over a wide area. They would be used on targets like a US Carrier Fleet, Portsmouth Navy Dockyards or a massive column of tanks. Ukraine has nothing like that. What they do have is very close to Russia. 2. He who launches first loses. China's policy has been set for decades. The first to use a nuke automatically becomes their enemy. 3. Very few nukes are actually ready to go. A small nuke for a specific purpose would need to be ordered, removed from storage, placed on a missile/plane, armed and then delivered. That's not a quick process. NATO monitors such activity. It's entirely plausible that NATO would simply destroy the nuke. 4. The aftermath. Biden has already said that the use of a nuke would see US forces in Ukraine in 48 hours. I believe him. China would be at war with Russia. Radiation would be heading into Russian territories or NATO territories. Neither is a good idea. The whole world would oppose Russia. 5

It’s there for al, to see ands has been all along. It was highly unlikely that the Ru chain of command would obey orders to launch a nuke on Ukraine, it would break down somewhere, to launch one on their own people in their own country in the midst of a civil war… nah really can’t see it. Putin can give whatever orders he wants, there really isn’t much chance of it happening

Mandy Lifeboats
This is a very interesting development. Massive convoys of dump trucks are heading for Moscow. In my opinion these are part of a standard civil defence plan. They will be filled with sand in order to build sandbag fortifications. These actions show the Civil Defence plan is already at a serious level.
