Lots of reports from several reputable media outlets. Plus both sides say there was an explosion and blame each other for it. It's not in doubt.

The media is just parroting the Ukrainian claims and claims do not equal evidence, especially in war times.

Both sides will be working the propaganda angle from this.

I’ll keep an open mind until we get some more knowledge on it.

It's happening folks.

Attack vectors seem to be Svatove in the North, Soledar and Klishiivka around Bakhmut, Staromlynivka in the South and frantic activity around Kherson. Instead of going for a big punch it appears that Ukraine is trying to stretch Russia as far as possible, and especially around Bakhmut and towards Berdyansk it's working really well. In one night Ukraine have liberated 3 villages towards Berdyansk and caused a rout there. Russian forces have mined the areas around them so hard that they're retreating into their own minefields and clearing the way for Ukraine when they run.

It's US\NATO tactics to a T. First they've hit logistics for weeks on end, and now they're attacking the groups with the longest supply chains. With the arrival of the SCALP missiles they should hit targets deep within Crimea/Luhansk as soon as they advance a little.

Meanwhile Russia claims they've blown up 15 Leopard 2's, 10 amx's and several thousand men, does anyone even believe the Russian MOD anymore?

Will be interesting to keep a track of claimed Leopards destroyed and how long before it exceeds the number ever produced!😃

You can be sure when they do get a western tank, if there is any footage or access to the wreck, it will be all over the media.

I don't think it was panic. I think it was planned to disrupt Ukraine counter offensive

The one place the counter offensive was never going to be, was across the Dnipr

Ukraine had absolutely no way of getting armoured vehicles across the river

Does shift focus and resources to stop the flooding, evacuate civilians etc..

885 people needed to be evacuated, it's already been done. The Right bank, the city of Kherson, is located on a hill. It was always going to be the Russian held left bank that flooded

It's true, but Russia is operating off of maps from 1942, before the left bank was steepened and so they had no idea that they'd flood themselves, light themselves on fire while smoking next to an open source of petrol or die if they ate green potatoes. What can you do when you're about as intellectually switched on as Donald Trump during Covid?

Not sure what your point is?

Here's a topographical map of Kherson and the Dnipr, You'll notice the right bank is a hill and the left bank is a flood plain. Man in video doesn't understand basic geography and physics

It is plausible Ukraine may have had something to do with this.

For several reasons it also helps Ukraine in an offensive. Everyone is saying it doesn't but it clearly does dependant on the strategy being employed. It makes it more difficult to cool the nuclear power plant with lower water levels, thus potentially making Russia's stay untenable around Zaphorizhia. The Kherson side of the river is also much higher in elevation compared to the Russian occupied side, which is far more like a delta and will flood far worse effecting as stated in previous posts, affecting entrenched defending Russian forces. Cutting off the water supply to Crimea completely is also a sure way of isolating it leaving many occupiers with no choice but to vacate.

Also look at the frontlines.... Crimea won't be taken straight away in any counter offensive as it makes no sense without firstly consolidating frontlines on the eastern or southern flanks. So it is plausible Ukraine could do this to potentially ensure they can't also be flanked when the counter offensive really gets going.  It's also cuts off Russian forces retreating to Crimea and consolidating defensive lines.

Everybody saying Russia blew the dam maybe right but it most definitely is not beyond the realms of possibility that Ukraine planned this all along.

Russia raised the water level of the dam to a record 17.5 meters just before it blew up. Hardly a coincidence, they just didn't consider the ramifications for their own troops, as per usual. They've been firebombing their own soldiers for months so a bit of water should cool them off nicely.

Where did you get this info from. I haven't seen that.

The sluice gates have been broken for a while. The dam was way low for a while and they tried to shut them but it went way high and the dam may have burst.

Now that Crimea’s direct water supply has been cut the next obvious move IMO would be to try and take out the Kerch bridge.

Not a criticism of you but you (and that Sky video posted above) reminded me, that its often been said that the canal was Crimea's water supply and people imagine that this means all the water is cut off to homes etc, it isn't the case. The canal supplies water for agriculture not domestic use

On the Kerch Bridge. I'm not sure they can take it out now, they need to give Russians an escape route when they take the peninsula back otherwise Ukraine will end up with a humanitarian crisis.

EDIT: Also has there been confirmation that the canal is out as the Dam isn't fully breached only the top level, so the canal may still be serviceable
