ciggiesnbeer
I have such an admiration for the Ukrainian people standing up to Putins evil. Incredible. Ukraine is like a nation of bloody heroes.

Long range bombers don't need to be close to any potential front. If Putin thought NATO were going to attack Russia, why would you put one of your few remaining expensive resources in reach of the supposed enemy

AFAIK there's been a heavy plane presence in Kola since the cold war, Russia trains yearly on Norway's border. It's nothing new to Norwegians, or Finns who in reality is closer to this than Norway. pas5898
If Putin was stupid enough to go for a Nato country he'd go for Lithuania, Latvia and/or Estonia. They are blocked in by the coast and bordered by Belarus. Vilnius is only around an hour from the Belarus border. Without Nato they'd be easy pickings if he wanted to retake former soviet states. Unfortunately for him, attacking any sort of Nato country would result in probably every single Russian military outpost being destroyed in around 6 hours. Vilnius in the Spring was full of the US Army (our Wizzair plane was next to an Osprey and C13 Globemaster much to my AVGeek enjoyment), but not enough numbers to stop any sort of ground attack in the short term. He's not going to attack a NATO country. They are just about holding on in Ukraine without escalating their demise.

FWIW I had a look at the Starlink costs..... eat shit Elon. How fast is Starlink in the UK? Latest test data - The Big Tech Question Hardware £439 Shipping & handling £56 Monthly fee £89 That means your first-year costs are £1,563. That amount would buy you gigabit fibre broadband and a television package from a rival such as Virgin Media. However, remember that Starlink largely pitches its services at people not currently served by fibre broadband and cable companies. If Starlink is the alternative to a crummy ADSL line running at less than 10Mbits/sec, for instance, you might decide that’s a price worth paying. Note that Starlink suggested the price of the hardware could be cut in half in the near future, so it might be worth holding out a little longer before you commit. LondonLax
Presumably there is an on going cost to SpaceX to position its satellites over Ukraine, even if it’s just an opportunity cost. Either way, it sounds like he’s pulling the plug after being told to ‘**** off’.
