And that's why I don't listen to the Joe Rogan Show. Thanks for the reminder!

He's an idiot forever climbing the first peak on the Dunning–Kruger effect graph. Same for the people who take him seriously.

Quote

Four occupied areas of Ukraine will become part of Russia on Friday, the Kremlin has said.

It comes after so-called referendums, widely dismissed as a sham by the West, were held in recent days.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Putin would attend a ceremony in the Kremlin at which they will be officially folded into Russia.

Pro-Kremlin officials said on Wednesday that the self-declared republics of Luhansk and Donetsk and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions had all voted to join Russia.

It claimed 93% of votes in Zaporizhzhia were in favour, as were 87% of ballots in Kherson, 98% in Luhansk and 99% in Donetsk.

The referendums began on 23 September, often with armed officials going door to door collecting votes.

Obviously the referendum results are a sham  but its a clever move  , now any attempt to regain control of those regions is an attack on Russia by the evil Nazis.

It's not clever. It's just the logical thing to do if you're getting beat. What other option did he have? I think it's one of his last cards to play and it certainly won't change Ukrainian resistance or western support.

Very few people still believe that, even in Russia there's massive discontent. It's only a ploy to send untrained, old and weak conscripts to be killed by Ukraine.

There's more dead Russian soldiers in Ukraine than the USA had in the whole of the Vietnam war.

Ukraine's borders are internationally recognised. The referendum is only a tool for Putin's internal audience

This Vice doc is from 2014 and gives you and understanding of how Russia have been undermining Ukraine for years in order to take back the Luhansk region in the East. Interestingly Svatove which is the town highlighted in this doc is North East of Lyman and currently occupied. There are several other short docs in this series.

Ukraine has been attacking “Russia” since the start of the war.  They blew up a Russian Airbase in Crimea very recently.

Since the very start of the war Russia has threatened terrible consequences if NATO expands….. NATO interferes….NATO arms Ukraine….NATO provides long range weapons………

Russia only has 1 escalation left.  War with NATO.  That’s just not going to happen.  We are now in Cold War II.  It’s not going to last decades.  But it could take years.

As the Russians are now mobilising, why does the west not give Ukraine long range weapons and ammunition and let them bombard Russia for a change.

It's one thing to go to the aid of a Country which has been invaded and support them in removing the invader and regaining their own territory, it's a complete different thing to assist one Country to attack another.

Russia you need to stop attacking Ukraine.

Ukraine, here have these weapons to attack Russia with...

The West's approach has consistently been to help Ukraine defend itself, but not to start or have any involvement in attacking Russia itself. And indeed the support is conditional on Ukraine not using western weapons to attack Russian territory.

Thats my point. It was ok before to assist Ukraine to defend itself, but now that Russia is calling up conscripts surely that changes the rules? Giving Putin a taste of his owne medicine may ( just may ) call a halt to this silliness.

Russia has been calling up conscripts throughout this. Conscripts did have the option to opt out of going to Ukraine by law and many did but a lot of them were also lied to and bullied into signing regular soldier contracts.

Conscription will have no bearing on this whatsoever.
