KentVillan
I’m not sure why all this sabotage needs to be CIA / NATO special forces when it makes more sense that it would be Ukrainians in Russia or anti-Putin forces in Russia. Much easier for them to operate undercover if they speak native Russian / grew up in Russia?

KentVillan
I would have thought that whereas Ukraine's conventional military successes do owe a lot to Western support (Nato training since 2014, provision of weaponry, intel support, etc), the covert ops are something they are very well placed to do themselves. They know the Russia/Ukraine border region well, they can blend in easily, there's lots of sympathy on the ground, etc. And given the depravity of Russia's invasion, I imagine the resistors all have titanium balls, motivated by revenge and love of country. Expect there will be some insane successes from resistance forces and covert ops, not dissimilar to occupied France in WWII - and some brutal retribution from Russia.
trekka Posted April 23, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted April 23, 2022 Russian state media claims that "sabotage specialists" from the UK are helping the Ukrainian military in the western Lviv region. According to the Ria Novosti news agency, at least two groups - or about 20 people in total - from the SAS have been deployed. "These are no ordinary special forces," a Russian intelligence source is quoted as telling Novosti. The source added that the SAS personnel are likely "co-ordinating the activities of sabotage groups" in Russian-controlled territory. British media reported last week that SAS troops had been training local forces, according to Ukrainian commanders. Founded during World War Two, the Special Air Service is known for covert missions, including hostage recovery, reconnaissance and counter-terrorism. BBC News "These are no ordinary special forces". Same here, I think he massively **** up. He thought they’d either 1) Surrender or 2) Welcome the Russians. I also think he massively underestimated the worldwide reaction and sanctions. magnkarl
This is how accurately you can actually use artillery. Russia is clearly targeting civilians on purpose when Ukraines batteries are hitting tanks parked right next to a building from several miles away. Conclusion, Russian artillerymen can’t aim, won’t aim and enjoy killing civilians. Edited April 23, 2022 by magnkarl
bickster Posted April 23, 2022 Moderator Share Posted April 23, 2022 More on the attack on the command centre from yesterday. 3 more generals out of the game (2 Dead, 1 Severely Wounded) Quote The Ukrainian military claims to have "eliminated" two more Russian generals during fighting in the south-eastern Kherson region. A third general from Russia's 49th General Army was said to have been seriously wounded, and a mobile command centre was destroyed, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence's intelligence update. Western experts say more Russian generals have been killed in action in Ukraine than in any other conflict since World War II, reflecting a lack of preparation that may require senior officers to put themselves in harm's way. Earlier, the UK's own defence intelligence suggested that Ukrainian forces were making successful counter attacks, and continuing to frustrate Russian advances in eastern areas.
