I guess moving to the East applies to both Russian attack and Ukrainian* defence.

*which is backed by far more advanced hardware than Russia have.

But then I assume Russia has short supply lines and Ukraine has long, difficult to maintain supply lines as all infrastructure between Kviv and The East of Ukraine has been destroyed.

Well, not really.

Dnipro, Kryvi Rih, Poltava and Zaporizizhia (all big cities) themselves are closer to i.e Krematorsk than the nearest city in Russia (Rostov, Volgograd). The front lines are static around Krematorsk and Izyum, which still means that Russia will have to drive several hours through unfriendly territory that is contested. It's not like they've been steam rolling Ukraine in the East up until now either, so I wouldn't be so sure that Russia can do much other than indiscriminately shell cities and front lines. Their tanks and airforce have been proven rater useless against modern weaponry, so they're left with very little choice of what to do.

Here's a good take (yes I know, it's a puppet) on Russia's manpower woes in the war.

Meanwhile, with the help of Anonymous, UA has published all names, ranks, passport numbers and DOB of all Russians that were stationed in Bucha. The argument is that Russia is not admitting that it's a war, so Ukraine can publish this on the grounds of the Russians acting as terrorists.

It's going to be a hard life for the idiots in the 64th Russian motorised rifle brigade. They'll be hunted for the rest of their lives.

This guy is ex Brit-mil’, turned Kurdish YPG fighter, turned Ukrainian marine, currently fighting in Mariupol. Worth a follow while he’s still around, and makes the point over German political attitudes very well:

Russian friendly-fire attack. significant loses. (If True)

Quote

"During the hostilities in Ukraine, the 38th separate motorized rifle brigade (military unit 21720, Yekaterinoslavka, Amur Region) suffered significant personnel losses from its bomber aircraft, which at night could not distinguish its troops from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the air bombardment of their own positions, the commander of the 38th Motorized Rifle Brigade, Colonel Kurbanov Andrey Borisovich, asked the commander of the Eastern Military District, Colonel General Chaiko Alexander Yurevich, to no longer provide him with such air support ,"

It does seem the Russians really do lack the ability to fight at night

Florian Post would be a nazi if he lived 60 years ago. He's part of a populist crap arm of the SPD that does nothing but show they have no grasp over anything but the immediate area in Bavaria. Germany is appearing weaker and weaker by the day, and this sort of twitter vomit just shows that this man is a first world privileged SOB.

A German Farage then...

Grim but a good example of the rabbit holes that covid denialism has sent people down. Almost seems that a big proportion of those who lost their mind on covid have gone down the route of being pro Russian too (along with a few other common routes)

Pro Brexit, Covid denying, anti-vax, pro Putin climate, change deniers are often the same people in my experience.
They used to be pro-Johnson but have changed tack on that for now.

Russian economy facing COLLAPSE with mega-recession this year to cripple Putin

RUSSIA is heading for a major recession this year, with the economy to contract by as much as 12 percent, Western officials believe.

GDP growth forecasts range from minus seven percent to -12 percent

That would mean it's worse than the 1998 financial crisis which hit Russia, but also worse than 2008 for them."

In 1998, the Russian stock, bond and currency markets collapsed in what became known as the "Ruble crisis".

It led to the Ruble being devalued and Moscow defaulting on its debt.

The economy shrank by 5.3 percent and widespread protests broke out across the country.

Its a hell of a sacrifice the Russians going through all this to rid Europe of Nazi’s.

Looking at the comments he'll have lost 99% of his followers in no time.

Conversely the anti-vax conspi nut at my workplace has gone this exact way, it's like his life is so boring that he has to invent lies to give his life meaning.

It's bizarre that at some point, without any of them noticing, the western far-right went from being terrified of reds under the bed, to becoming shills for Russian propaganda, and having more time for Putin and his regime than for their fellow countrymen. And they still probably think of themselves as the patriots.

Putin feathering the anti-progressive nest made him appear to be their friend. He's anti-woke, the opposition to the evil globalists, therefore invading Ukraine can be handwaved.

You have to chuckle at the whole "the media is lying to us" schtick. Believe it or not, the vast majority of journalists don't actually publish what they believe to be lies. The might be wrong, sure. They might have gobbled up some agenda-fuelled nonsense from elsewhere, but they do tend to actually believe what they're writing.

The idea that the entire media, comprised of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people worldwide, get their heads together to pull off some conspiracy is utterly laughable.

Most conspiracy theories collapse when you ask the question "how many people do you think it would need to know the real story and then conspire to cover it up, without it falling to pieces instantly, for the global media/governments/etc to pull it off?", and then point out how utterly useless and inept the people regurgitating those conspiracy theories hold the media/government to actually be... Couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery, but can work with millions globally to successfully carry out a massive conspiracy without breaking a sweat.
