Just a few minutes after hell freezes over. Us not sending a diplomat to the World Cup is the absolute extent of our 'firm' reaction to events in Salisbury. And we probably won't do that. Russia can do what it likes in the UK provided there is the merest film of deniability. They know we aren't going to do anything, and they also know there's absolutely no political will to do much either, given Russian money in London etc etc. It's hilarious watching them dance like we matter to Moscow. Spot on, nothing happened last time and nothing will happen now. Personally I think we should not test Russias resolve, they could wipe us out if they want to. our government loves intervening in world affairs even when things dont concern us. Chindie Posted March 13, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted March 13, 2018 I'm not sure the EU would be there to help us in that scenario if we'd spent the last 2 years pleasuring it. That's not what the EU is there for Anyway everyone knows the UK is impotent in this. We have very few options to threaten Moscow and we aren't going to use any of them. I certainly wouldn't want to be a Russian dissident at the moment. And definitely not one here.

Chindie Posted March 13, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted March 13, 2018 Craig Murray, who is sometimes worth listening to, has suggested the Salisbury thing isn't Russian. I'm not sure he's right, but there we are. Some will lap it up because it uses the Mossad word.
Xann
Quote The Russian response to accusations that they deliberately sought to widen divisions inside America - when it goes beyond simple denial - is twofold. First, they argue that Russia is simply responding in kind to decades of US lead efforts to destabilise foreign governments it dislikes. Second, they point out that American democracy must be in a pretty parlous state if it can seriously undermined by a Russian operation with a supposed budget of a mere $1.25m a month. Financial Times This article is called - Russia, America and a contest of sick systems - If you want to try source it beyond the paywall? Chindie Posted March 13, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted March 13, 2018 Democracy is only as strong as the people that form is foundation. The hat couple of years has shown the foundation is ****. The Russian social media manipulation is obscenely simple. It just needs a bunch of people with decent standards of English. Which they have.
