I reckon barely anyone had heard of him before this season and, even with hearing about him this season, barely anyone has watched him play aside from obligatory YouTube videos. However, he's become a "must have" he would "improve our midfield massively" etc. Flavour of the month. Stats dont lie. The guy is scoring and assisting like crazy in the league we play in. The league were all our midfielders combined dont even have half as many. We have better strikers than Barnsley who need that kind of service. Yet hes the highest in tackles in the division. Jareth
There can be absolutely no doubting the value of a player like Hourihane to us, when our current alternative is Westwood or Gardner. Please Steve Bruce, for the love of god go and buy him.

Yes, he is. I'm not saying he's a bad player or that we shouldn't sign him - I'm saying people know nothing about him (aside from above stats) yet really want him at the club. It happens with loads of players we're linked with - he's just the current one getting most attention. Nothing wrong with that, just the flavour of the month. AJ
As much as he would be an improvement to our team, he is also an improvement on flavour of the month. Last month it was paprika.

Lord Willard
The more research I do on Hourihane the more I want him, especially at the price being quoted. 25, still improving and one of the better championship midfielders for 1-2m?

I would've expected his name to crop up at some point prior to this season if that was the case - but yes, some people do watch lower league football a lot. Grasshopper
I'm with this GK situation Gollini Too young to rely on. Bunn gone in the summer Johnstone in till seasons end So we have SJ as nr 1 - check Bunn as nr 2 - ok Gollini is homesick/ whatever Jed S injured Maybe SB has another keeper lined up and had to get rid of 1 gk? As for next season If we go up is SJ good enough for PL? if not We can buy for the PL If we dont go up will SJ want to stay? Either way, Bunn is only good enough as nr 2 and leaves in July We will have to evaluate in the summer for most positions if in PL or EFL I can imagine the longterm plan is 1) next season in EFL Gk SJ (if he stays) + JS RB New Signing + RDL LB NS + NS (Amavi will probably go) CB Chester/Baker + YouthPlayer/NS DM NS + Jedi RW Adomah + YP/NS LW YP + NS CM JanWin signings + Tish & Gardner (Do not understand the GG deal) AM JG + McC (Ayew will go) CF Kodjia + NS + YP If we are in PL Gk NS/SJ + JS RB New Signing + RDL LB Amavi + NS + NS CB Chester NS Baker + YouthPlayer DM NS + Jedi RW Adomah + YP/NS LW NS + YP CM JanWin signings + NS + Tish AM JG + Ayew CF Kodjia + NS + YP

Yeah i guess.. i got influenced by some of his stats earlier on in the year.. saw him once or twice only really.. and watched highlights every now and then of Barnsley.. but he just looks great. Has all the attributes that we need in a midfielder.. that we havent had in such a long time. Even Delph didnt have goals/assists like this guy does. Whether he can step up to premier league level.. who knows but i just want him here for this division.. as he is not fluking it.
