villanwesty88
If Delph was interested in coming here then we should take him. Then when we end up back in the Premier League Steve Bruce can tell him the following; Steve: "Fabian I'm not using Xia's millions to sign better midfielders. You are staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season with you captaining this great football club." He then signs a new deal on the back of this. Then we go out, sign a new midfield and let him rot in the reserves. Just for 'lols' we give him a packet of snake sweets every day at Bodymoor along with a Nokia 3310 installed with Snake for him to play on. I thought he was excellent in his second spell, especially when Gregory put him in a back 3. He used to pick passes for fun. Bloody good player was Staunton and if I remember rightly was Gregory's choice for Villa player of the season that year.

bobzy
Wouldn't want Delph back anyway. The way he left typifies everything wrong with modern football. **** him. Edit: tbh, it makes me quite happy knowing that he's barely playing any football. The thought of him leaving solely for dolla then coming back and "leading Villa to glory" makes me feel a bit ill. John
Both Snake and Cleverley burnt their bridges when they chose to leave us. They did not want to play for us then and would not want to play for us now. Lets try to bring in players like Lansbury who might want to play for us and who would see a move to us as a step up. AJ
Yes, Delph is a good player, because Villa showed patience and developed him into a good player. I remember when he first started getting games, he was yesterday's Westwood, but he eventually got there. If we signed Delph he would definitely improve our midfield. But, if we do sign Delph, it would say to everyone including Fabian Delph that Fabian Delph is bigger than Aston Villa. It would cost Villa its pride, and if we only cared about results, then we should all quit supporting Villa and just become glory hunters. Its never going to happen anyway, but if in some strange world he signed Delph, then I would want Bruce out.
PieFacE Posted January 6, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted January 6, 2017 Ha, Delph? Jesus. That one will never happen. There would be 10-12 Premier League clubs wanting him If he was available. Same goes for Cleverly.

He 'd improve our current midfield, but then if I got a game I'd be more mobile than Jedinak, and put more leg work in than Westwood, so it's not saying much. City only ever bought him as he was relatively cheap and an easy way to get English cover in the squad. He isn't good enough to compensate for all the trouble it would stir up. 3 league goals in over a 100 appearances is a miserable return for a midfielder. NottingVilla
Brum Mail have been told it's rubbish ("strongly denied" by the club) about Delph so lets move on and unofficially blacklist that Telegraph mug of a sports reporter. Delph was phenomenal when he was playing for Leeds at this level, Westwood has never had one phenomenal performance. Delph was well on his way to being a future England international before we came along.
