Whereas Smith brought in Konsa, Engels and Hause to fight for a place next to Mings, Bruce would probably have brought in a Gary Cahill type. Now, there’s no way of saying who’s approach is better, as a Gary Cahill might have helped Villa stay up last season with fixtures to spare, but a big difference is that plugging holes with short-term fixes is only delaying more patchwork. Whereas, right now, Villa have a great centre-back pair who, if they continue to perform, could stay there for years to come.

Not only the centre-back pair, but literally the whole team consists of players just entering their prime and who could grow and improve together as a team. All aged between 22 and 27.
rodders0223
The more time he gets, the more money he spends and the better calibre of player he gets - the shitter his football becomes. It is actually bizarre.
Tomaszk
"Steve Bruce" is a great read on twitter. Absolute conman. Stumbles into every result. There is no plan, there never was. Tim Sherwood had more of a plan, and he is a moron and definitely not a football manager. The forensic examination of Dean Smith we're clearly going to see on the main forum every time we don't win a game is very amusing bearing in mind the vault of excuses that were wheeled out when Bruce was doing this shit at Villa.

Genie
Mike Ashley probably told him to survive in the premier league at all costs. He doesn’t care about how he does it just do it.

Will be interesting to see how you'll do against the bus teams. Imo Leeds are limited if they are not allowed to counter.
penguin
How he keeps burgling results I’ll never know. The way he set us up in the play-off final against Fulham summed him up perfectly: complete reactionary almost cowardly tactics, every game is set up just not to lose. Said before and got some bewildered reactions but with us he’d probably have preferred to have had worse players, the guy doesn’t have a clue what to do when he’s not the underdog and actually expected to get a result from a game rather than a point being a good result. His luck will run out eventually and he can go rot and Stoke where he belongs.

S-Platt Posted October 26, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted October 26, 2020 To be fair to Bruce he picked an attacking line up yesterday! Just does not know how to coach them to attack.
