Davkaus
Bruce would have been sacked 40 something games ago if he were our first manager at this level. We sacked RDM too early, IMO. 1

Like being 4th in the premier league at this stage, you’d probably say that side has a realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League. Sorry mate, I don't mean to be rude but that is a terrible comparison. 4th gets you in to the champions league. 6th does not get you promoted.

Not sometimes, always. Newcastle lost 9 last season. You mean the Newcastle team, with one of the most highly rated managers in the game, who always showed signs of progression, and blew teams away when they clicked? Ya know, also probably lost games trying to win them, which in turn allowed them to win more than they lost or drew? Please tell me more about how our disjointed football and being saved by individual brilliance from our top players every now and then compare? EVERYBODY would be more patient in Newcastles situation. Edited December 23, 2017 by JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Popular Post dukes
Had enough. The team is capable, but the negative tactics are killing us, particularly at home. its so negative to pass back to the keeper from the halfway line with th3 sole intention of him launching it upfield to draw the opposition out. Once in a while it’s a good ta tic, but this is our only tactic. Bruce has had time, is supposed to know this division inside out, but we keep getting out fough5 and out thought at home against inferior opposition. watching this week in and week out is unbearable.

Honestly I believe if we sack Bruce halfway through the season they will be looking to give the new manager enough time to make an impact for next season. Villan_of_oz Posted December 23, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 23, 2017 Hey @Grasshopper I was hoping to negotiate terms of our bet. On reflection I'm wondering if instead of donating £10 to villatalk, Can I instead donate it directly to AVFC please. I would like to double our transfer budget for next seasons attempt to get out of this league.

Genie does have a point, though. The team finishing in 4th place in the PL won't get champions league, but might qualify through play-offs. The team finishing in 6th place in the championship might get promoted through play-offs. (But Aston Villa with Steve Bruce at the helm probably won't)
Mantis
When was the last time we were a remotely decent footballing team? For God knows how long we've been a counter-attacking team at best and an ineffective, long-ball team at worst. Right now we're just hoofball merchants who can grind out results against lesser teams not through team skill but rather the sheer quality of our players and moments of individual brilliance. Since we're not ever going to be a realistic contender for relegation in this league, it'd be nice to see us try and build a proper footballing philosophy. It'd be great if we could actually play teams off the park for once. I'm not saying we should be like Barcelona or anything but a bit more composure and proper football would be nice. Unfortunately, Bruce isn't the man to offer that. If we were getting results for promotion then that's fine but we're not really getting that either.

You lose 9 and win 37. You have 111 points and you romp the league. You draw every game, and you finish on 46 points, and you probably get relegated. But hey, youve lost none in 46!
