MikeMcKenna Posted September 10, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) My round trip to Villa Park is over 300 miles and the thought of making the trip while Bruce is manager depresses the hell out of me. I will be there Tuesday night as it is what we do but this is going to be a bloody long season. Since he arrived I cannot remember a time when I relished the trip, yet like an idiot I still bought my two season tickets. Bruce is just the latest in a succession of crap managers - when the f*** is the nightmare going to end? Nigel Posted September 10, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted September 10, 2017 Im not so sure we are as close as we think to losing Bruce. All the powers that be have a lot of face saving to do if he fails, he will get more time than most IMO!

We've been shite in most of them. I think he meant he hopes one Win ( on Tuesday) won't save him. I must admit I can't see how it can be affected by that result, surely they either want him or not.... but that's football !!

Brentford are a small club with no money at all. They have just had to sell their best three players in the last week of the transfer window, and yet they totally dominated us in front of an angry and embarrassed Villa Park crowd. They didn't have to play brilliantly, they just had to do the basics properly. They passed and moved in support of each other. They got forward in numbers when they had the ball, and they pressed when they didn't have the ball. They appeared fitter and much better organised than us. Dean Smith said before the match that they'd spent the past couple of weeks bedding in five new players. Getting them used to the system, developing an awareness of where their team mates were going to be on the pitch with the ball and without the ball in relation to them etc etc. What did we do in the last couple of weeks? We were knackered and needed a well earned break according to Bruce. We only had five players away on international duty, so we could have put in some valuable work on the training pitch with our large squad, but we decided not to. Bruce complacently said he was delighted with our performances in the last two games and that he thought we'd played really good football going into the international break. Brentford knew what they were doing yesterday, and it showed. Villa didn't have a clue, and it showed. The buck stops with Bruce, Calderwood and Clemence .... Wyness and Round also need to have a damn good look in that "giant mirror" as well! Have tweeted this to Tony as an excellent post @VillaBromsgrove The amount of retweets it is getting already. Popular Post TrentVilla Posted September 11, 2017 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted September 11, 2017 Laughable that Bruce is trying to suggest that the fans were on the back of the players and in particular the young players. It's you Bruce, you are the one people take issue with, you are the one they are booing. I'm sick and tired of this guy pointing fingers at the fans to try and cover his own failings. We've had 11 months of this rubbish without the slightest hint of progress. The kids are the only bright spot of our season and he is only playing them because his own signings have failed and the club want him to bring through young players. As if the fans are turning on the young players. I'm utterly sick of Bruce we can't sack him soon enough. We could win 5-0 on Tuesday and it wouldn't make the slightest difference to my view that he is not the man for the job. 9

Demitri_C
Another season of catch-up exactly what we need. Two massive colossal cocky appointments. thankfully once Bruce goes which I suspect will be shortly, whoever comes in will have a very strong squad. With rdm the squad was very poor

He will be gone by Sunday at the very latest in my opinion - cannot see us beating boro or Barnsley . Any later than that and we will be too far adrift to give the new man a realistic crack at promotion , and with the money all spent the job would become less attractive if miles adrift . Deisler123
I hope we lose the next match so we can say bye to him. I know it is bad to hope for a loss but I really do. The type of football we played was a disaster. Edited September 11, 2017 by Deisler123

DaveAV1
If after 11 months, yes 11 not 6 or 9 Steve, the board intend to allow a single game at home against Middlesbrough to influence their descision, then I despair.

He still claims Sunderland fans never accepted him because he was a Geordie. I am not even sure it is an act at this point, or quotes to ensure self preservation. He is genuinely deluded.
