Thanks for giving me the chance to explain my poorly written post I am not bold enough to say it is poorly written, on the contrary , I have always enjoyed your posts. just anxious to respect a guy who has come to resurrect our time. He is clearly sensitive of some of the things we have aimed at him in the past...his endorsement of the fans chanting his name at reading was a clear indication of his joy. My opinion is with all the derogatory stuff aimed at him in the past ( and the past is the past).. I am just keen we get off to a positive reference to him. Villarocker
That Blues team was shite tonight and Brucey was there watching them. They'll have to break up their back four too and they've lost when doing that only once this season. I've got this feeling that tells me we'll turn the noses over and that will be the turning point for our season.

I guess it all comes down to individual perspectives. I don't think we can define ourselves as mates with Steve Bruce. As it is, some people like him, some people don't. It wouldn't be to the point where we can pop over to his house and borrow his lawn mower or anything like that, but he would probably consider us as "the crowd". The crowd could be admiring and respectful, or they could be abusive or derogatory. The crowd referring him as Brucie could be regarded as quite endearing. The crowd calling him " Brucie boy" could come across as quite demeaning, however, when used in a post, could be regarded as affection. Calling Steve Bruce " Mr Potato Head", however or wherever, is just mean and childish.

Have to be realistic our team doesn't cope well with pressure and we are going to be under severe pressure next week at the sty from the unwashed fans

Popular Post Reivax_Villa
Quote Steve Bruce wants to become the longest-serving Aston Villa manager in recent history after admitting: “I’ve waited 20 years for a club like this.” The claret and blues boss is buzzing in his new role and is determined to maintain the feel-good factor by seeing off Fulham at Villa Park on Saturday. Bruce has already lifted the doom and gloom by picking up four points from his opening two games in charge. And the 55-year-old has promised more good times if he is granted the time to work his magic in years ahead “If I can do four or five years here then I know the club will be in a far better place,” he said. “That’s got to be the aim. “I did nearly three years at Sunderland which seems like a long time for them! “I did four years at Hull, seven years down the road, and a couple of years at Wigan. “But managing a club like this is huge. It’s a real privilege. “I’ve been waiting 20 years to be at a club of this size so I will give it everything I can.” Bruce agrees that the club now needs stability after years of change. nd he is desperate to remain on board during these exciting times under Tony Xia’s leadership. “The new owner has already introduced stability because he has brought in Keith Wyness (CEO) and Steve Round (technical director) to head that. “I am working with very, very good people. “But we all know the game now and we all know the game in management. You have to win. “You won’t be given time. “I won’t be given 18 months, two years or whatever. “You are given six or eight weeks. “You have to hit the ground running and if you do that it gives you the time to put something in situ that will help the club. “Stability is the big thing crying out for us now because you can’t keep having change. “You have change of manager, you have a change of squad, you have a change of backroom staff. It becomes a mix, it becomes unbalanced and difficult. “All the big successful clubs have had stability. “Let’s hope that I can be the one (that brings it) because it is a great football club with great people here.” http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-manager-biggest-job-12060163 Edited October 22, 2016 by Reivax_Villa

Keep it up with the positive results and you will have us on side 100%. We really need a manager to be proud of something we haven't had in so long.

I really hope that the players work hard and perform for him/us because I think that he could really do well for us long term with the support of the fans and owner. Bruce obviously loves it here and I love the way he refers to his time managing the unclean as "seven years down the road". I lol'd when I read that
honest_bertie
The more I hear him talk and the more good results the more I like him. Thought he was the right choice but didn't really want him as I've never really liked him. Must admit I think now I was just being pig headed, from all accounts seems a decent guy, pleased to be here and Doing what's needed so far. More and more I hope he can be the success we've been waiting for the last however mangers. Lots of work to do but he's got my support. Grasshopper
I've always liked Bruce as a player and a manager (even though I could never understand him teaming up with the inbreds) He wasnt my 1st choice but going through my prefered list Bruce is an appointment I not only agree with (for getting us promoted -beyond that we'll see) but understand as a logical appointment from the board and someone I can get behind 100% However I do think, in my sense of humour mode, Potatoe-Head is a very apt nick-name that is really funny. But I prefer Fist-face, I mean, just look at him. Fist-face is a perfect word to discribe him. I like him, he has my support 100% Nice to see you to see you Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce but he'll always be fist face to me
Popular Post Ginko
I also like the stuff I'm hearing from him in the press. The cynic in me reminds me that he knew full well he'd have to do a lot of sucking up to us to win many of us over considering he used to manage 'down the road', but if you think about it that just shows the man has some common sense about him, which as I'm getting older I'm starting to realise how uncommon that is. I liked reading that article in particular because I reckon there was some subtext to what he was saying about waiting for a big club like us and wanting to stay here a long time despite the fact that in the modern game two months is sometimes all you get. I think with that he's also saying 'I want to stay here for a long time to implement my philosophies throughout the club which will benefit us immensely in the long-run, but I'm not daft enough to think that if I start doing that now and stubbornly refuse to adapt to what we need in order to win games that I'll be in this job for very long.' I think he went a step towards proving that on Tuesday night. The possession stats were a tad alarming and we didn't play pretty but we got the job done and got the win. I doubt that's the way he'd prefer to win every week but he recognises our limitations and what we need in order to overcome them and win a football match. Again, common sense - a trait no doubt picked up when playing under Fergie and probably a strong factor for him being selected as his captain. This lack of stubbornness might be just what we need right now. Obviously it's too early to judge Bruce just yet and we're going to be in for months of football that won't be easy on the eye and we might not be too proud of, but that's where we are right now and this might just be the only way out of it. Again, it's early days, but it feels refreshing to finally have a manager who seems to understand this. Maybe now we can turn the corner. icouldtelltheworld
I like Bruce, I think he's come across well since taking the job and it seems he really wants to be here and work hard to improve us. We've been bad at the basics for so long, fitness is one aspect, also set pieces we've looked completely unthreatening from for years, I trust Bruce to see things like this and sort them out. One thing I realised is that he was SHA manager during the only period in my life where they were a top flight club who regularly beat us. I really think that he's the right man to sort us out and re-establish us as a solid PL side, then we can bring in someone else to build on his foundations once we get there, as mid-table seems to be about his ceiling. We have to get the basics right before we can look to push on. I wouldn't have wanted him to be managing us a few years back, but the reality at the club is different now. So while I might not like that were in a situation where SB is about the best option for us, I certainly don't have a problem with his appointment given our circumstances Hopefully we can get 3 points today and carry on with our rebuild, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. Up the Villa!
