There's no real segregation at the stadium, there's an active secondary ticket market, there's not enough security around the stadium and next to no crowd control - it's the 70's in terms of organisation and I think we know where that'll end up.

And Trump will have been back in long enough to raise the tension of the nation, have it teetering with intolerance just when massive international crowds arrive .... It will be absolutely chaotic

They reacted to pressure on the gates by essentially locking everyone out until 30 minutes before kick off - then just opened the doors and had crushes and stampedes.

There's talk now of kick off being at 02:30 our time - that's 21:30 their time - and they've already extended half time to 25 minutes for Shakira - which means the game will finish at about 23:40 or with extra time, some time after midnight.

I know that stadium quite well. It's a nightmare. Miles and miles out of town impossible to get to without a car, huge steel fences right round it, the staff are always dickheads, and Miami is really bloody hot and sweaty and horrible.

Very predictable it would go to shit.

The US doesn't seem to have picked up on separate ticket collection points in cities for different fans, separate fan parks away from the ground with transport provided - there doesn't seem to be any prevention on touting, either online or at the stadiums, there's no enforced segregation inside the stadium, only suggested areas to buy tickets, and they seem completely unaware of the idea that fans without tickets will show up.

It's a mess.

Surely set up for some pretty horrific crowd violence if they’ve let a bunch of people through without tickets and proper checks, and haven’t segregated the two sets of supporters. This is going to be a disaster

That's uncomfortable to watch.

Have these idiots not looked at the history we've had with crowd problems? That's horrible to watch.

Having initially locked everybody out while they tried to catch fans inside the stadium who had jumped the gates (not necessarily ticketless fans, there were fans desperate to get in that couldn't due to delays), it looks like they then opened all of the gates and didn't check tickets at all - there are reports that the stadium is absolutely crammed full, well beyond its capacity.

They could do with sitting down with police forces from other countries to learn how to police football matches - it's an alien culture of support and they need some help.

Imagine this but with 25,000 organised hardcore Eastern European hooligans - it doesn't bear thinking about.

To be honest, it's totally foreign to us. We don't have even a quarter of the problem that European fans have or any one else.

Hopefully this is the wake up call. They definitely thought they could treat this like a random NFL game, and instead, they got the ultimate football crowd experience. Very lucky they didn't see a massive tragedy. Hopefully there are no incidents post match.

were they doing the whole ticket resale thing for this?

my experience of sporting events in the states is that you don't buy tickets from the clubs or the stadiums you buy them through resale portals

that doesn't work with football
