roonst83
Very tough opener. Am expecting the side that started against 'Boro to be our starting XI which worries me as it contains Hutton, Cissokho, Bacuna and Gestede. Feel our defence is unsettled and could struggle against teams with strikers who have good movement. Wednesday will come at us and want to take the scalp of one of the big boys. We need to try counter where we can. Ayew needs to play up front where he can have some impact and not be stuck out on the wing. Would be be great to get a win here if we can. alreadyexists Posted August 1, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) I think this is going to be a tough opener, but RDM will probably go for: Gollini Hutton Elphick Baker Amavi Tshibola Westwood Bacuna Ayew Grealish Gestede Not saying it's a side that's going to beat Sheffield, but I think it's what RDM will start with. At the moment, I predict a 2-0 loss. Edited August 1, 2016 by alreadyexists

VillaChris
Lose 2-0. Sheff Weds are one of the better team at this level, will be a very tough introduction and don't think we're ready all over the pitch.
wilko154
Gollini Bacuna Okore Elphick Amavi Sanchez Westwood Tshibola Adama Grealish Ayew Bacuna over Hutton just because out full backs are consistently having to get forward and not making it back in time to cover their defensive duties. Bacuna and Amavi are a lot more capable of getting up and down the pitch and putting decent crosses into the box. Adama and Grealish both need to pull out wide to help out the full backs though and create space... something we rarely do anymore! Richard
Back 5 will be Gollini, Hutton, Elphick, Baker and Cissokho Middle two will be Tshibola and Westwood Next three will be Bacuna, Ayew and Grealish Striker will be Gestede Which constitutes 7 remaining players from last season and to be honest if anyone would have said that in May / June then they would have been shot down for being too negative. villakram
amongst the gloom... some light reading to get one in the mood http://www.football365.com/news/bloody-loving-the-filthy-filthy-championship "Variety: There are 24 clubs and they vary from the big, such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa, to small old school community clubs like Burton Albion and Barnsley. Then there’s the once glorious old warhorses like Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest." Regarding the game... finding it really tough to be hopeful with so much of last season still hanging around, and in a way I'd almost like to see us get hammered just to remove any doubt about the job required while there's still some time to bring a few more in. The line-ups in the earlier posts are down right depressing Edited August 1, 2016 by villakram

KHV
I think this will be a massive reality check for the club. I expect Sheffield to rip us to shreds and win by 3 or 4
OutByEaster? Posted August 1, 2016 Moderator Share Posted August 1, 2016 This is going to be tricky. -------------------Gollini-------------------- Hutton-----Elphick------Clark-------Amavi -----Tshibola----Westwood---Gardner------ -----------------Grealish-------------------- ---------Gestede---------Ayew------------ Two things about this team: I'l be amazed if it's our starting eleven - i could have another eight guesses at it and they'd all be wrong. I don't think it'll beat Wednesday.
