alreadyexists Posted December 30, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 30, 2017 He played very well today, well done Tommy. Not bad for a man only 3ft 6inches in height. Rock on Tommy.
Zatman
Always like Elphick though he isnt brilliant, his last ditch block vs Brentford showed his fighting spirit Is the story true that Bruce said he would have started Jedinak in defence if Whelan was fit? On the official site Bruce said Elphick played well considering he wasn't going to be playing yesterday but then Whelan got taken sick so he called Elphick in. That suggests Whelan would have been DM with Jedinak again playing CB.
GNeeUs
What has happened to Elphick? All I keep hearing from Bruce is he’s had a hard time since joining Villa. Then Bruce stated that if Whelan wasn’t sick he wouldn’t be playing. Should this really be said in an interview? Elphick was quality at Bournemouth, he was a Captain. He was our Captain when he first joined. What has happened? I’m confused!!

Makes mistakes frequently, I don’t know if it’s a concentration issue or perhaps a confidence issue or not but most of the times he’s played he isn’t very good.
sne
While he's not been good for us I much rather we play players in their natural position than play midfielders as defenders or defenders as strikers and so on.
vreitti
If given an extended run in the team, he might just regain some confidence and surprise us all. He's better than he currently looks IMO.
sidcow Posted December 31, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 31, 2017 (edited) If Elphick is fit he should always play ahead of Jedi in Central Defence. Sheffield United proved that beyond any reasonable doubt. Edited January 1, 2018 by sidcow
handsworthlion
I thought he looked really comfortable and assured yesterday.. although I think jimmy Chester had a lot to do with that. Loved his ‘pashun’ When he come over to the away fans at the final whistle. Good pro. Good work Tommy, keep it up.
Popular Post mikeyp102
Hats off to Tommy. Very assured today (apart from the one hashed clearance) played some neat passes when he could and cleared his lines well when needed. Looks a completely different player to the one at the end of last season. Was very vocal, instructing Johnstone And helping organise the defence

Popular Post markavfc40
There is going to be plenty of others getting loads of plaudits tonight and understandably so but I think Tommy deserves a special mention as he didn't put a foot wrong tonight. In fact I don't remember him doing much wrong in the last three games. I also noticed tonight before kick off that he was the one going around and really geeing the players up and getting them going and basically being a leader. I think the biggest compliment I can give him is that it will be harsh on him when he is almost certainly dropped when Terry returns. HanoiVillan
I think we can afford to ease Terry back in slowly, which is nice.
Johnnyp
Unsung hero today. Great the way he made the players applaud the holte at the end.
sidcow Posted January 1, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted January 1, 2018 Well done Tommy, has done a superb job for us when called upon. Also a good pro, not heard a peep from him about being out of the team.
wilko154
Elphick has been immense over the last few games, I would leave him in in the side for a few more weeks until JT is fully fit and ready to play again. Love his passion at the end of the games.
TRO
I have made comments in the past of not rating him. He was awesome tonight and no, he can't be dropped. I love it when players ram criticism down your throat......well done Tom and keep it up. can't be dropped on those performances and attitude. Guest av1
If JT is fit for Saturday (as the OS seems to suggest), i think I'd give Chester a rest and go with Elphick and JT. Not because i think Elphick is better, far from it infact, I'm a huge fan of JC, but because it both rewards Elphick for his current run of form and gives Chester a little bit of a rest. I don't think he has missed a game this season has he?
