Popular Post markavfc40
I am really not sure on this one. He is a little lacking in experience in certain areas and has had long spells out of the game. In the last 5 and half years he has managed for 16 months and something like 75 games. He did well at MK Dons, did really well getting the baggies promoted although pretty much kept the squad that had been relegated I think, and it is certainly some achievement winning the Champions League. My major concern is that he has never experienced anything even approaching the rebuilding job that needs to be done here. The fact he lacks experience in the transfer market and building a squad doesn't mean he won't be good at it of course it just means we have no real evidence to put our belief in that he will. As with the new owner time will tell I guess if he will be a success and if he is capable of getting us back up. If the owner is true to his word then he will get the financial backing required. It will also require a decent head of recruitment coming in to replace Reilly and his first choice back room staff. If he does get the support though both financially and in personnel then the rest is up to him and I get the impression if he fails he will be quickly replaced. I hope for all our sakes he gets both the backing and is up to the job. As was the case with whoever the appointment was he'll get my 100% backing and I wish him all the luck in the world.

We have been embarrasing for years now and have no right to argue with those achievements so lets get behind him and hope for a swift return to the top flight. I've declared previously that I'm not a fan, I think he's a divisive character and I'd question his motivation. At the same time... I can't argue with the above. He's had a better career than I assumed. 100% behind him, as I would be whoever he were.

Not sure if Conte is bringing in his own team. I would be delighted if he bought Newton with him. He's the real deal.

Jareth
Probably the least volatile appointment for the fanbase to absorb compared to Pearson or Martinez. I actually think Xia is a bit of a genius and if this is his pick then I trust in Xia. Huge opportunity now for RDM, I think he has 'the hunger'. Didn't he do okayish coming about 6th? A bit better than Moyes foreign spell then. He seems a decent guy but has he the bite and drive to shake us up? I've always wondered what evidence people have for giving any kind of review of an assistant manager. Unless details are released as to the exact role and precise undertakings of an assistant, how can we really judge them? What I mean is that the line between manager and assistant can be quite a blurry one. Edited May 26, 2016 by One For The Road
